Shantae and the Seven Sirens PS4 PlayStation 4 1

WayForward's Shantae series is a surprisingly enduring one. Originally releasing on the Game Boy Colour in 2002, the games have come a long way, despite there only being four of them. Five, if you include the freshly named Shantae and the Seven Sirens, the upcoming new instalment.

The developer has shared the first details and screenshots of the new title. Taking place on a new tropical island setting, the half-genie hero and her friends find some new allies, but of course, things inevitably go pear-shaped. "As Shantae gets caught up in the island’s sinister secrets, she’ll use all-new dance abilities and instant-transformation Fusion Magic to explore the nonlinear, interconnected world where she’ll visit multiple towns, overcome treacherous labyrinths, and battle dastardly bosses," reads WayForward's post. There will also be a new collectible card system that will let you "augment Shantae’s powers".

What's more, a batch of screenshots have been released, and it looks like Seven Sirens is continuing with Half-Genie Hero's art style, which is no bad thing. There's no release date attached to the new game yet, but hopefully it's not too far away.
