Assassin's Creed Odyssey Story Mode Creator

Okay, you'll have to bear with us on this one, because it's a pretty crazy rumour that comes in two parts. The first is that all the way back in April, Reddit managed to nab a juicy screenshot of a post from Ubisoft community manager Dominik Voigt. The post in question spoke of a "Story Mode Creator" for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, suggesting that an update would allow players to make their own missions or levels, and, probably, share them with others. A similar system already exists in Far Cry 5, for example.

But for an Assassin's Creed title, this would be breaking some significant new ground. Odyssey is already a gigantic game, and adding community-created missions to the mix would make it truly colossal. The post was, of course, quickly deleted, but naturally, it got a lot of people talking. Ubisoft has said nothing about it since.

Right, now for the second part of the rumour. Just a couple of days ago, Assassin's Creed Facebook fan page AccessTheAnimus put out a tease on Twitter. It reads: "E3 is approaching and we can finally mention that we were kindly invited to test an upcoming community oriented tool for #AssassinsCreed Odyssey!" Interesting.

Even more interesting: "We can’t say much more for now, but we suggest you checking the #UbiE3 Pre-Show for more details!"

So whatever this "community oriented tool" is, we're going to be seeing it during Ubisoft's E3 coverage, and it certainly fits the "Story Mode Creator" leak, doesn't it? Put all of this together, and you've got one heck of a juicy rumour.

Admittedly, this isn't watertight stuff, but there's even more to it. Following the release of Torment of Hades -- that's Odyssey's latest DLC episode -- players have been reporting loading screen tips that mention a "My Stories" mode. This suggests that the game's been primed for this supposed Story Mode Creator update. Heck, it might even be dropped during E3 at this rate.

It all makes for an incredibly interesting rumour, and we'll know for sure whether it's actually happening once Ubisoft's E3 press conference coverage is underway on Monday the 10th June.
