Alright then guys and girls, let's get the E3 2020 tag rolling! Yes, we're all questioning whether the Electronic Entertainment Expo is still relevant in today's online world, but the show will return for at least another year in 2020. Snapped by Twiter user Lucas Patricio, attendees can catch sight of a banner as they leave the Los Angeles Convention Center detailing when to return. Check it out below.
E3 itself will run from Tuesday 9th June through to Thursday 11th June in 2020, meaning you can expect press conferences and showcases in the lead up to the show to take place from roughly Saturday 6th June. Do you think Sony will be in attendance next year? Put your thinking caps on in the comments below.

We go again!
I do think Sony will make at least one more appearance at next year's E3 event. But they might up the ante when it comes to those State of Play live streams for a more direct approach and because it's just more cost efficient to do so.
All depends when Sony do the grand unveiling of the next playstation. Im expecting another 'future of playstation event in the spring which might negate the need to attend. Why share the reveal of next gen hardware where it will be compared with scarlett and fighting against all the next gen titles for headlines.
My ideal scenario would be a reveal in feb or march, with a proper nintendo style state of play during e3. Obviously with hardware on the show floor for people to try. Not sure they need the big stage presentation though.
If they jump first with the next gen reveal, they will have all the headlines to themselves. If Scarlet was subsquently revealed at E3, it would immediately get compared to the PS5 so will have to share the limelight
SONY PLEASE. PLEASE. Don't do this to us again...please, I love you!
at least next year.e3 is always gonna be there.word up son
Nope, I think sony will do their own event like psx and state of play.
Was there ever any doubt? Are there actually rumors or rumblings about stopping E3?
Hopefully without Sony. I wonder if their 'vision' remains as strong when they have a console coming up.
As I said in the 'relevance' article, I do thunk that its 'traditional' purpose is no longer relevant BUT that its relevance to gamers and the Gaming industry is still important. Its purpose now is more about the excitement and hype for the biggest season in gaming and kicks off the big gaming events - like Gamescom etc.
For gamers, like myself and many others, we would like to see more of the games in the briefing rather than just teaser trailers to announce the new games. That was evident with Microsoft this year who, despite having 60 games - many of which were premier reveals, didn't appear to go down well with gamers preferring far fewer but more in depth look.
Again, it goes down to the purpose of E3 and who the briefing is aimed at. If its 'just' the press, where the press can get more details, hands on, see game-play in the booths after the 'presser', MS's approach is 'fine'. Its sending out a message that they still have a LOT of games coming to the system, a lot of new reveals too. If it was aimed more at the gamers watching on streams, the format doesn't work because we are bombarded with teaser trailer after teaser trailer with each jumping all over the place with CGI and cinematic camera angles trying to get across the whole game in 1 minute. Before any sinks in, another has taken its place. Like Sammy said, they may have had 60 games but you will struggle to name half of them because of the way they were presented.
If you are the press, are in the audience for MS, you can go to the MS booths and check out some of the games, speak to devs/publishers etc to get a better understanding and feel for what the game(s) are about so the press thing was less about the games individually but more about saying they have a LOT of games for the press to check out and ask about over the next few days.
As gamers though, we have to wait for the devs, publishers etc to either release more details on their website and through social media or wait for the press to write up or make a video of the games they got a better look at after MS's show, their impressions, the information they were able to get etc.
I'm not watching it, I'll be playing Cyberpunk 2077.
