Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris has a name that we simply never want to type again, but sadly that's not an option when we're covering a newly announced title. All we've got to go on right now is the trailer embedded above, and confirmation that the game will follow the most recent season of the Sword Art Online anime. So yes, that means you're playing as series protagonist Kirito, and not a custom-made character like in previous Sword Art Online games.
Alicization Lycoris will feature "new gameplay experiences" according to Bandai Namco's press release, and going by the video, it kind of looks like a full-on action game? Maybe even a bit open world? We'll no doubt learn more over the coming weeks.

Every single Sword art online game has dissapounted me in the gameplay, so hopefully this one will be the one.

SAO Fatal Bullet have really neat gameplay, i hope this one even better.

Actually, you normally play as Kirito in SAO games. I think there's only 1, maybe 2 , where you don't. Even then, he's still a prominent character in the story. It's a shame, he's probably the worst thing about the franchise.

So i hope i dont have to play as him. I rather see a custom character again. Still annoyed Fatal Bullet Complete Edition did not get a disc release. No extra work needed just the english patch they did it for Japan.
Personally, I belive the games should feature a completely different story than the anime. You can always just go watch the anime or read the manga for the original storyline. I feel that the creators should create another storyline for the game like they did for Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. They could probably also implement the main story into a side one like they did in fatal bullet. Personally I enjoyed Fatal bullet because of the choice your charater can make and how they are the main charater instead of Kirito. I also extremely enjoyed the character customization in fatal bullet I'm hoping will be in the new up coming SAO game. Anyhow I feel like the new game should have a completely different storyline that revolves around the player's customized charater as portrayed in Fatal Bullet. Another think that I would think that would bring in much more people would be implementing a romance command. I've read on reddit that a lot of people would have enjoyed the story more if it had some kind of romance function. But once again that's just a idea. I hope alot of people agree with what I have said above.
