Here's some fairly big news that isn't an April Fools gag: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is getting a brand new map for Battle Royale mode Blackout, and it's releasing tomorrow for free. Set on Alcatraz island, you can get a taste of what's to come in the trailer above.

Alcatraz promises a more close quarters experience for Blackout players, with zombies to avoid within its prison cells and more unique modes of transport to get you about the play area quickly. To go alongside the new addition, free access to the game's Blackout mode is once again available from tomorrow through until 30th April, meaning that absolutely anyone can try out the new map for free.

It's an interesting route to take when it comes to the Battle Royale genre, with the likes of Fortnite committing to big overhauls of its single map while others such as PUBG release new settings for the battle for first place to take place in fairly regularly. It looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is attempting to strike a balance between the two approaches, as it has provided a couple of somewhat decent additions to its original map, and of course now introducing a second area to do battle in.

Is this enough to convince you to return to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode? Get the handcuffs out in the comments below.
