It would seem that Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is enduring a slightly rocky launch. The enhanced remaster released last week, and a lot of players are running into the same problem when trying to team up with friends.
Indeed, the co-op side of the experience isn't all that smooth right now for some. Many are reporting various connection errors, ranging from not even being able to join a session to being consistently kicked during gameplay. Not ideal when Borderlands is largely built with co-op in mind.
Fortunately, Gearbox says that it's aware of the problem and that it's working on a fix. Let's hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Weird. Me and my roommate have been playing since it launched last week without any problems at all.
@Sawdy I think because its your roommate, meaning pretty much on lan or same network.
This has completely ruined the game for me. I love co op ava being forced into single player sucks for me. Glad to hear a fix is on the way. Pretty sure it won't take long considering all the other borderlands work fine.
@Cutmastavictory makes sense
Haven't been able to join a single coop game since release. Played thru the entire campaign solo, which wasn't bad but just not the best. Hope this gets resolved soon!
Not even attempted online. Just enjoying solo at the moment. I'm only lvl 16 tho but having good fun.
There's a work around that may be limited... but works
Jokes on them, I don't have any friends to play with
