Not that it's any sort of secret anymore, but Gearbox has finally confirmed the release date for Borderlands 3. As expected, the cel-shaded shooter will launch on 13th September 2019. There's a new trailer to watch too, if you fancy.
In the above tweet, the studio also teases that we'll get to see the first real gameplay of the title on 1st May. From the wording, it sounds like this could be another live stream -- fingers crossed it goes better than the other one.
Anyway, there you have it: Borderlands 3 is officially out on 13th September. Are you excited for this long-awaited sequel? Will you be tuning in for the gameplay reveal? Pick up some loot in the comments below.

Cant wait for this and yet another siren to play as, currently waiting patiently for today's update for Borderlands 2 to get a feel for how this'll look when it comes out. Bring on the loot 😄
Only 5 months more to wait is awesome news. Will be getting the Super Deluxe edition as soon as its up on the store!
this look so cool. Can this game compete against The Last of Us 2 and other games for win Game of the year award ?
wrong date on their release date in playstation store for pre-order : December 31, 2020. SMH
I stopped pre ordering games about 4 years ago but started again this year, this will be my 6th pre order this year. (The others are kingdon hearts 3, outer worlds, persona Q2, super mario maker 2 and TLOZ link’s reawakening.)
@ResidentEvil2 thanks for link!
Was going to pull the trigger and just preorder now but holding off in hopes they have one of those "preorder 2 get $15 back" promos before it releases!
@redd214 yeah get $15 back promo may come in June during E3.. if it say spend 150 to get $15 then i would pre-order The last of us 2 and other one. i hope Sony announce release date for The last of us 2 in June too that help fans get that promo : spend 150 to get $15 back
Cool - almost certainly a pre-order for me!!
Not the date that was so say revealed in the trailer as someone thought - wasn't that a Tuesday in October - however its releasing on Friday 13th...
@ResidentEvil2 it probably can.this year will be the crowdest for goty in games.days gone will get nominated for goty also.word up son
@playstation1995 umm i don't think so. Resident Evil 2 Remake, Seikro Die twice, Borderlands 3 will join in GOTY contender with The last of us 2 and Cyberpunk 20177 if both coming out this year between October and November
Might be my first pre order in a long time because with past BL games I've gotten my monies worth a lot it's just the season passes I didn't like with 2
I hope they have more interesting skill trees this time. That's what always put me off the previous 2.
Ohhhhh boy another Epic Game Store Timed Exclusive on PC! grabs popcorn & watches the rage
@ResidentEvil2 Remakes are not considered for GOTY awards, also I really doubt that The Last of Us 2 and Cyberpunk are coming this year.
According to reviews, the biggest contenders until now are Sekiro, Devil May Cry 5 and Apex Legends.
Resident Evil 2 has even better scores than these games, but it’s a remake of a classic, they will not consider as a game of this year.
About Borderlands 3, I believe that will be a GOTY contender too.
This is how i like it. Reveal and release 6 months later. Not like reveal and release 2 or 3 years later.
This new video adds to my anticipation of BL3. I wanted more of the same and that is what BL3 is looking to be.
@PS_Nation yeah i agree with you. If The last of us 2, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima not coming out in second half of 2019 : August to December then Sony screw up big time for lacking of their biggest exclusive games in second half of 2019. i don't think Concerte Genie gonna be GOTY contender
