PlayStation's released something of a mini-documentary on The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red. Clocking in at around five minutes, the video's narrated by Doug Cockle, who fans will know as the voice of Geralt. It's an interesting watch, as studio co-founder Marcin Iwinski details the company's incredibly humble origins.
One of the most noteworthy points made in the video that you may not have heard before, it was actually BioWare -- fellow RPG heavyweight -- that licensed the game engine for the original Witcher title. The Canadian developer was so taken by the project that it showcased the game at its own E3 booth in 2004. Quite the boost for the then much smaller CD Projekt Red.

Rather odd but cool that Sony have produced such a documentary.
For me, CD Projekt Red hit my radar on last generation with the Wutcher 2: Assassin's of Kings thanks to its release on the 360. As a result, quite a bit of this information was known to me and all of this contributed to my hype and anticipation for the Witcher 3, which I consider to be the best game this generation... so far! Even the side quests have more 'story' and depth than some AAA games and the Blood and Wine DLC is bigger than a lot of AAA games too. It also looks stunning - even more so in 4k HDR
For many though, The Witcher 3 may be the only game they are familiar with, may not know who CD Projekt Red are and where they came from - especially if they were only Playstation gamers.
Every time I watch a video of the Witcher or read a few pages from one of the books, I get that much closer to replaying it again
When i first played The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings I really disliked Geralt's voice. I think it was because most of the other cast were very good British accents and Geralt's flat American tone really stood out. His personality and dry humour won me over, though and I loved it by the end. Doug Cockle was fantastic in The Witcher 3.
The conversational decisions were picked quickly now... contrasted with before scenes The Witcher thought of it a tad. Is there an opportunity he's attempting to accelerate this ongoing interaction and get it over with? I really appreciate this more than Batman, approaches Last of Us and The Witcher.
I need to fire up Witcher 3 again
