Borderlands 2 VR launched last year and played perfectly fine with the DualShock 4 controller, but we weren’t fond of its PlayStation Move support. Unfortunately, the game lacked PSVR Aim Controller support at launch – despite frequent requests from fans for its implementation. Thankfully, developer Gearbox listened, and a patch this week added the peripheral in.
And after a short test, we can confirm that it’s vastly superior. All of the original comfort options return, so you can toggle between snap and regular rotation, etc. But having those two analogue sticks on the firearm-shaped peripheral itself makes an enormous difference to the gameplay, and it’s the best way to enjoy the title right now.
We still feel that the shooting is a touch archaic these days – it’s a consequence of the original title being almost a decade old. But being able to shoot out projectiles from the sky while strafing is fun, and the PSVR Aim Controller feels like it’s mapped flawlessly in game. It’s a neat update, then, that really elevates this virtual reality port – better late than never.
Will you be picking up Borderlands 2 VR now that PSVR Aim Controller support has been added in? Did you already play through the shooter-looter with the DualShock 4 or PlayStation Move? Do the Claptrap dance in the comments section below.

I'm itching to return to Pandora, but there isn't an Aim Controller in the UK for an affordable price. The stock issues baffle me 🤔
Wasn't paying much attention to this series but I need more Aim controller games so it's s fully on my radar now.
May now pick this up. Glad it works well.
I played for quite a while, the night the patch dropped, and agree that this is what the game needed. It plays a whole lot better than the DS4, although, the DS4 wasn't that bad (as for the stupid Move wands, I did try them, but they're as bad as they've always been, so enough said about those things).
I plan to venture out into the Borderlands, once more, this weekend... If I can curb my megalomaniac, imperial tendencies towards the conquest of 19th century Europe, in Napoleon: Total War.

It’s as bad as the Move controllers - only currently available at twice the RRP from some sellers.
I was lucky enough to pick up the Firewall/Aim bundle when it was £44.99 back in December (a promo voucher glitch knocked this down to a bargain £19.99, cheaper than Firewall on its own!). Perhaps the low number of Aim supported games will mean that stock will remain low whilst prices stay high. If the Move and Aim are going to be compatible with PS5 and a future PSVR 2, then surely these stock issues should be addressed and they should remain available at RRP. If Sony are readying an updated version of Move for PSVR2, then maybe it is likely that they have no intention of supporting the old Moves, technology dating back to the PS3 era. If this is the case then stock refreshes of these peripherals look unlikely.
I’d happily pick up a pair of Move controllers, but can’t justify the inflated price.
Amazing now it's worth the expensive price all it needs now is online co-op and then it's complete and truly worth the asking price as the launch price seemed a bit high. But it's great to see the Borderland world in VR and use Aim controller.
I waited for this patch. Now I can finally buy it.
@get2sammyb
Argh....I passed this up on a recent sale simply because it didn't have AIM support. So have you tested it out? Is it good or bad?
NM...the video. My bad.
Hope they'll show Borderlands 3 at E3 this year.
Just bought it now. It will be my first time playing the game. Pretty excited
