You can always count on Double Fine to put a unique spin on something, and that's what it's done with RAD, just announced for PS4. It's a roguelike action game set in a world that's been devastated by armageddon twice, now roamed by mutants and bereft of humanity. Players take control of a teenager who is tasked with entering the Fallow, a constantly changing nuclear wasteland, in order to discover how to bring life back to the world.
It sounds like the more you play, the more mutated your character will become, eventually able to transform into bizarre creatures with different abilities. "The fate of the world depends on the player, a sweet bat, and whatever new abilities they gain as the world around them ravages their body, twisting and mutating them into something far less than human, but far more powerful," reads the press release.
It looks like a neat idea to us, and it should be filled with Double Fine's usual flair and humour. RAD is due on PS4 in the summer, published by Bandai Namco. What do you think? Go nuclear in the comments below.
Looks awsome. 😃
Love the 80s vibe. If this has couch co-op im in.
Thought I'd be more excited by the trailer than I was. Interesting idea anyway.
Looks good but roguelikes can be hit or miss. Similar to procedurally generated levels moonlighter has some terrible dungeons/paths because of this.
Love the whole mutation thing. Looks really cool but perhaps not my cup of tea as i just cant seem to stay interested in hack n slash stuff like i was back in the Ol days. Still very cool
