Dead or Alive 6 Costume Parts

Grinding for additional costumes in Dead or Alive 6 is an absolute slog -- so much so that we dinged the game for its unlocking system in our review. Right now, if you want to unlock a new outfit, you need two in-game currencies: pattern parts and gold. Gold is easy enough to obtain -- you just play the game -- but pattern parts are only rewarded in bulk through completing challenge missions. Arcade runs and online matches give you tiny amounts, to the point where if you're actively trying to get new outfits, they're barely worth playing.

This issue is compounded by the fact that pattern parts are assigned to random costumes. In other words, you might not even get parts for the outfits that you want. On top of that, you need anywhere from 100 to 1000 pattern parts to unlock a single costume -- and there are quite a lot of them.

Thankfully, the game's official Twitter account says that improvements to the costume system are incoming. A future patch will attempt to fix things, with the aforementioned randomisation of pattern points cited as an area that can be improved. This update's apparently due mid-March.

In the meantime, there's an in-game event happening right now that's supposed to multiply pattern part gains by 100. This temporary bonus applies to arcade, time attack, survival, and online ranked modes.
