Have you played the 1-shot demo for Resident Evil 2 yet? Odds are that, if you have, you didn't beat it -- at least, that's according to Capcom. The publisher has made public a couple of interesting stats regarding the recent PS4 demo, which only provides 30 minutes in which to explore the Raccoon City Police Station.
On the official Resident Evil website, Capcom estimates that nearly 1.4 million people have played the demo for the Resi 2 remake, and of that number, only 28 per cent of participants made it to the end before their time ran out. It seems as though most people like to take their sweet time, even with zombies limping in the halls and smashing through windows. Indeed, our very own Sammy Barker didn't reach the conclusion in his playthrough of the demo, which you can watch above.
It's important to note that these figures are based on "players who have enabled RE NET Play Data Settings," so the total number of players will be a little higher, and in turn, so will the completion percentage. Still, it's an interesting pair of stats. Did you manage to reach the end of Resident Evil 2's 1-shot demo? Board up those windows in the comments below.

I only played it for 10 min and switched it off.. that was enough to convince me to get it once it's out:]
Took me 11 minutes, and I've played it again on another PSN account, can't wait til the 25th so happy I'm off work
everyone please buy this game so Capcom gives us res3...
Well, I was one of these 72% who didn't reached to the end. I wasn't rush anything, I just used every minute to explore and admire the scenarios. I'm glad I did it.
This is the game in most excited for this year so NO WAY was I going to rush through it.Of course I didant finish it...but who cares, more to see when the full game comes out.
I reached the end. How so many were able to soak up the atmosphere for 30 mins i dont know. I felt constantly under threat and was just running for my life haha! Its a great game. Is there a licker in the demo? I didnt encounter one personally and was glad not to bump into mr x if he is in it either.
Only concern is that the zombies were bullet sponges. Bullet to the head is meant to keep them down, but that doesnt seem to be the case here. And then they get back up. sobs thank god this one isnt in VR !! I couldnt play 7 with the headset on, so this would be even scarier
I beat it in 16 minutes.
Too scary for me. I wish I didn't get scared by games like this but what can I say, I'm a pu#$y.
I played it till I got a walkie talkie msg from the cop telling me to go back to the hall ... then "thanks for playing." Is it the end? I assumed it was.
I got to the locker room, unlocked a locker and got a roll of film. Delt with the zombie that came in then the demo ended. I think I spent 5-8 minutes in the locker room alone.
I would have taken my sweet time too but I felt under pressure because of the time limit and beat it at 19mins. Normally I would take time with games, check every corner, soak in the scenery, atmosphere and overall art. The graphics are okay, not as good as most of the tripleAs of 2018 though and I mean it's linear, this is why you got to respect RDR2's graphics for an openworld.
@Rob_230 From what I read (and my own experience) the only enemies in the demo are standard zombies, though you see claw marks and other such things along the way.
@fluggy - Not quite, but not by much. From what I understand, the demo end when you re-enter the main area and talk to the cop there.
While 72% sounded like a high number at first, when you consider how much there is in the demo, and how little time you get to explore it all (at least in one sitting) in retrospect it's probably not so unexpected. I almost finished it, but like others, probably spent a bit too much time checking out the optional areas for secrets (still got a good amount of enjoyment out of it though).
Can’t you try again or is it one 30 min play through and then you’re locked out of the demo for good?
I managed to strike a balance between enjoying it and finishing it. I wanted to see as much as possible. But I say play it how you want to play it.
@Rob_230 The demo was essentially the demo from last year's E3 and if I recall correctly Capcom reps said they took lickers out of the demo purposefully.
Took me about 20 minutes and I wasn't rushing, if anything it ended sooner than I expected.
It has reinforced my opinion that this is likely to be my favourite game this year though
Took my time exploring and checking out the controls and such. Didnt reach the end but found it quite boring tbh.
Not my type of game I must admit.
I ran out of time on my first go around with the demo on PC, but that's mostly because I spent at least ten minutes messing around with various puzzles in the environment. Once you know what you're supposed to do to finish the demo, though, it only takes a few minutes to beat.
Hammered it like the boss man I am.
I didnt want to spend long exploring and reading etc as I plan on doing things more methodically when the game launches. Just had fun wasting shotgun ammo on single zombies and got used to the controls fully.
@Rob_230 I echo your point on the bullet spongey enemies. Four head shots to drop...sometimes....as long as they don't get up again. Watching some speedruns, looks like the best way to proceed is one shot to the head to stun and then run past.
@pimpjuice no worries.people are gonna buy this games.and this game will have a 90 plus on meta.word up son
i took 22 minutes really enjoyed i also finished sooner then expected just reminded of the good old gaming days i am getting this one. just one question will there online co op play?
All I did was just walk around. And I liked it. Day 1.
@Rob_230 Zombies always we're bullets sponges unless you had a shotty or Magnum, but you still can pop heads with the pistol think it's just random, usually took me 3 bullets to the head before they fell
In my first playthrough of the game on ps4 I died by the early zombies in the game, the zombies are really good at not dying after 4-5 headshots. I lowered the difficulty but I'm still not reaching the end because I don't know what "the end" is, I though we have to clear the puzzle in the main hallway.
On my second playthrough on steam, after seeing youtube walkthrough video it seems the correct way to kill zombies is to wait until the weapon crosshair shrink before shooting the enemies in the head (the game didn't tell the players this). I finish my second playthrough on steam with normal difficulty, seeing the licker on windows, getting the shotgun, and still have 7 minutes to spare
@Rob_230 That was my first thought too, but try waiting until the crosshair shrink and shoot the head, there's high probabilty the zombies head will explode and the bullet do more damage I think. Or you can headshot the enemy once (normal headshot, no waiting the crosshair to shrink) and run pass it, it will not grab you and you're safe to run.
I actually stopped playing it. Not because I didnt enjoy it, but because I enjoyed it so much that I didnt want to progress any further and not be able to continue.
The highlight of the 24 mins I played was slashing the arm off a zombie whilst he was buying a kit-kat or something from the vending machine.
That makes me feel less bad about failing to complete it, but I still found the time limit to be very off-putting. It caused me to have to rush around instead of being able to take it slowly. It also meant that the zombies weren't scary to me as I was more worried about an arbitrary time limit.
I would have enjoyed the demo a lot more without the time limit, but maybe this game just isn't for me.
Does anyone have an idea how long both campaigns are?
I made it. I thought it was a complete game that I had to run through as far as I could in thirty minutes and so I used that strategy. It only took me 22 minutes to complete the demo.
Played it briefly, finished it ... liked it. Nice as a small taster but defo not wanting to play the demo to death b4 the game is released. Would rather discover any secrets during the main playthrough.
@clarksmc I heard 5 to 6 hours but take that with a pinch of salt lol
Beat it in 26 minutes, but I hated the fact that I had to rush it. Going to take my sweet time with the actual game.
@Zombiewarrior_95 True. But this is what worries me. I like a lengthier campaign personally. Not one I can finish in one sitting. I guess I’ll wait to see once it’s out in the open.
I finished it in 24 minutes... But I already played the demo at EGX ;]
I have 3 accounts... well ones mg step sons. So I had the pleasure of 1.5 hours to experiment... So hand gun and shotgun literally taking pieces of zombie flesh away. Even managed to get brain stuck on a door frame. Haha shotty can rip the skin clean off a head leaving behind a muscle tissue bloodsoaked skull! Crazy graphics!
I couldn't finish it. But wow I like it .
Downloaded but haven't had the time to play it yet. I'm only interested in checking out the controls and graphics and really get to it once the full game is out.
