We got our first look at the recently announced Dragon Ball action role-playing game at the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals. The title's first trailer shows both cutscenes and gameplay, although there's more of the former. What we know for sure is that it's penned in for a 2019 release on PlayStation 4, and it'll retell the story of Dragon Ball Z.
It looks like you'll be playing as Goku throughout, and it seems to feature quite open environments -- hopefully we get more concrete information soon. It also doesn't have an official name yet, so we're going to have to call it Dragon Ball: Project Z for now.
How do you think it looks? Become Goku in the comments section below.

It looks pretty good, I will definitely check it out.
Looks good hopefully it's an open world game it seems like it is
'Gameplay' x)
I'm curious about the combat! Probably like Xenoverse?
So....Xenoverse 3? Hard to tell.
Also I do believe @ShogunRok needs to post a certain gif involving rain and a window.
Mostly so I can steal it tbf.
Looks interesting. I'm curious to see more.
Don’t look at the moon!
@get2sammyb FFS Sammy that's only kid Goku! He's lost his tail long before this.
Going to need another Dragon Ball story breakdown at this rate.
Ugh another retelling of DBZ...
The disappointment is intense...
That gameplay shot at the end confirmed it...
DBZ: World Seeker it is...
Too bad they couldnt use the engine from DBZ Fighters. Looks good all the same. Wish it was turn based battles but i know its slim chance of that haha
@Spectra i think it'll be open world in the way games used to be before open world basically came to mean "sandbox game with lots of generic missions." So not open at first, but by the end there's a big world you can go around, like how it is in JRPGs.
Might be a way for me to get into it without wading through season after season of the show
Welp, this is officially off my radar now, unless the gameplay looks really good.
@RedMan33 if you wanna get into Dragon Ball, watch Dragon Ball Z Abridged by TeamFourStar. It's legit the best version of the story without missing anything important.
@CK97 I'll take a look, really want DBFZ but I've been told I won't get anything out of it as I'm not up to speed on it
@Knuckles-Fajita it wont be XeonVerse 3 because it's CyberConnect2 doing it the Naruto Storm series creators not Dimps so i imagine it will take some cues from Storm
@CK97 @RedMan33 now i love DBZA but please don't tell people to use that to get into the series, it warps and exaggerates the characters and story for fun and is no way representative of the characters or story of DBZ, it's a parody and it has already warped the opinions of many people (the whole stupid Piccolo is Gohans dad joke came from them and it got so out of hand even TeamFourStar said they wish they never did it), if someone wants to get into DBZ without the fluff then they should watch Dragon Ball Z Kai`not DBZA
like i said it's a great fan made show but it should not be recommended to get people into the series
Dude! I am so into this. It would be great to have a full retelling and exploration with today's technology. Though the older games did explore the main storyline it was a truncated version with little exploration. I'd love a full-on on version where you can fly around and be in the world of DBZ. Bring it on!
@ShogunRok but what about Kid Gohan during his training and the fight with Vegeta?
not to mention Vegeta as well

This made me feel excited as if i were a kid again...
Look pretty good but I think it will be cooler if we can play goku story from the beginning (dragonball).
@FullbringIchigo I somehow knew you were going to post this comment.
@ShogunRok i'm sorry i couldn't help it
CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA man that theme hit me right in the feels.
Again? I thought we moved past DBZ, it’s a new era, it’s all about Dragon Ball Super now. I’m a huge supporter of #DragonBallForever but I’m not going to sit through another game that tells the same story I’ve been told since the PS2 days.
@OmegaYato True, at the very least this game should expand into the Super storyline, but right now I don't know how likely that is.
They really hyped this up to be something unique, and it's just DBZ again. Nevertheless, at least it looks solid and is still more exciting for me than Jump Force. lol
@Churchy Have you played Budokai Tenkaichi 2?
@OmegaYato It's my favourite DBZ game.
But I would love to see a more deeper experience in terms of narrative and exploration.
