Arguably, the biggest selling point for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is its take on the Battle Royale formula, Blackout. This last man standing multiplayer mode merges the shrinking play field and high player count made popular by PUBG and Fortnite with the tight shooting and refined gameplay of Call of Duty, and it's been a pretty big success. If you've ever been curious about trying Blackout but have been hesitant to buy the full game, you're in luck.
As announced in the above video, a free trial is coming to Black Ops 4, allowing you to play Blackout without spending a penny. The free trial period runs from tomorrow, 17th January, through to 24th January -- in other words, a week of free time with CoD's spin on Battle Royale. It's not been made clear whether PS Plus will be required, but we'd assume you need a subscription for this. If it's any different, we'll let you know.
Will you be giving Blackout a go during its free trial on PS4? Squad up in the comments below.

I wonder if this Activision toying with the idea of selling Blackout separate
Eh, no thanks. The only battle royale I’m interested in is getting through the indigestion caused by my next Royale with Cheese.
I reckon we could see Blackout go free permanently at some point.
It’s the only way they’ll be able to compete with Fortnite.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Locking the one decent mode behind the full $60 price was the first smart decision. Going F2P and selling microtransactions would be the second.
I'll definitely be giving this a try at some point next week.
I'm up for giving it a try depending on the dl size.
Every time I've gotten a demo like this, online has worked without PS+. I doubt this would be different.
Just what my gaming friends and I were waiting for. Been looking to switch things up after some fortnite fatigue and nobody wanted to pony up retail for Blops4
Interesting timing with bf also launching tides of war! I'll stick to bfv
I really hope they add bots to black out custom games.
