As expected, last week was a successful week overall for the UK games market, as Black Friday saw numerous titles have their prices slashed. Less physical games were sold when compared to last year's sale bonanza, but if you factor in digital copies and the fact that sales began far in advance of the holiday itself, it's still an impressive week for UK games retail.
The most notable new release during the week was Battlefield V, which had to settle for a debut in fourth place. Sales were down when compared to Battlefield 1, but again, there's no accounting for how well it did digitally. Elsewhere, the chart sees plenty of movers and shakers as Black Friday takes its toll. FIFA 19 is back at the top of the pack, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 jumps from seventh to second, and Red Dead Redemption 2 slips into third place. Spyro: Reignited Trilogy suffers the biggest fall, however, gliding from first to ninth. Meanwhile, Marvel's Spider-Man leaps back into the top 10 thanks to a massively successful run in PS4 bundles.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 24th November, 2018
- FIFA 19
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Battlefield V
- Forza Horizon 4
- Marvel's Spider-Man
- Fallout 76
- Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu
- Spyro: Reignited Trilogy
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

How on earth is detroit not back up there! Its sold out everywhere
@Rob_230 According to the report: ''PS4 exclusives Spider-Man (No.6), God of War (No.21) and Detroit: Become Human (No.35), saw sales rise 634 per cent, 1283 per cent and 826 per cent respectively.''
Detroit did good . Hopefully this isn't the end of the Sony & QD relationship.
Fallout 76 in 7th. Even a price cut after a week didnt help. Spyro falling to ninth is a shame but can see it rising back up in the coming weeks
63% drop is pretty significant for battlefield. probably didn't help that it released the same week many other big titles got significant discounts including CoD, its closest competitor, which could be found for £30. it's convoluted pre- and post-release plans also wouldn't have helped either. it actually sold best, just, on xbox (50%), though it was bundled with most of the xb1s that i saw, so could have been worse.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Wow. Thanks for that. Incredible stats for all 3 games. All of them deserve to do well. I cant see QD not making their next game for playstation. They seem to have a strong relationship
@Fight_Teza_Fight - i thought i read somewhere that detroit was their most successful game - it reached 1m+ in 2 weeks, much sooner than heavy rain or beyond two souls. i liked detroit, and at least from a critical and commercial point of view, i don't see why sony wouldn't want the relationship to continue, and it does produce some of the finest looking graphical showpieces for playstation hardware. would like to see if they could turn that dark sorcerer demo from a few years back into something bigger. it's whether the negative publicity and its legal battles with the french press would cause sony to distance itself from them, who knows.
Think the main reason Battlefield 1 sold better was because it came out the same year as Infinite Warfare. Alot of CoD fans went to Battlefield 1 because they were upset at Infinte Warfare but when they realized that Battlefield plays different then CoD they quit. With Black Ops 4 they feel they don't need Battlefield V.
@Tasuki I think the game should have released a few months later with a more complete package. I really like the game but there is to little of it. 😢
I think BF5 will do pretty well eventually. But probably only after they release the battle royale mode.
@Tasuki
Beside the ridiculous launch, I am enjoying bfv surprisingly more than I thought I would. Bf4 will always be my favorite, and bf1 was ok, but something about bfv is really clicking with me. I don't even feel the need for more game modes or maps at the moment. What are your thoughts on it?
@NYJetsfan123 I honestly am enjoying it alot. Granted I play these types of games for the multiplayer. I feel that the guns are a bit better balanced then BF1 and the lack of gernade spamming compared to BF1 is terrific. Each map feels unique and I am having fun playing each one.
As for the lack of stuff that everyone keeps crying about I don't feel that way. I think the people most vocal about it are in the camp of got hate on something because it's cool and really aren't interested in the game to begin with. Right now everything that most people that but these games for are included in the game. Maybe they should have had the BR mode right from the start but as I don't really care about BR mode (tried both PUBG and Fortnite and they were just ok I didn't hate them but I can do without them too) so it doesn't matter to me when it's added.
Overall though I am pleased with it and I feel like I will enjoy this more then 1.
@Fight_Teza_Fight
Detroit has been doing pretty well since it came out. General consensus seemed to be it's one of, maybe the best, games QD has made and sales were strong worldwide. Sony needs to put a ring on the QD relationship and just buy it already.
FIFA and COD. Why? Just why?
@Gamer83 I haven't actually sat down and played it yet, just got it on Black Friday but my son has been playing it alot he's on his second play through and lovin it. From what I have seen of him playing it this game has exceed my expectations!
@Th3solution Cause alot.of people still like them
@NYJetsfan123 I'm in the same camp. Was never a big fan of BF1. But I am really enjoying V
@Tasuki
If you enjoy stuff like Blade Runner or Deus Ex I think you'll like Detroit.
@Gamer83 @Rob_230 I think Detroit has been a great success, if anything holds back the relationship it’s the issues @leucocyte mentioned. These games clearly have an audience on PlayStation, otherwise they wouldn’t be profitable.
Detroit also did really well in Japan, unlike most of Sony’s other FP games (-Spider-Man).
@Tasuki Yeah, I think I must be missing that part of my brain where I find COD and FIFA interesting. I’m starting to develop a complex about it. Maybe there is something horribly wrong with me.
@NYJetsfan123 I would like to be able choose maps and a few more maps are needed. I think this game should have released in next year with more complete and the complete singleplayer. I like it but there need to be more maps.
@Fight_Teza_Fight
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how things play out for QD and if Sony keeps working with the studio. Hopefully the partnership continues. Admittedly I wasn't high on Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls, at all, but Detroit: Become Human proved David Cage and co. can make a very good game. Hopefully the behind the scenes nonsense (and a lot of it sounds like stupid nonsense that shouldn't be happening) gets sorted out.
