In perhaps the least surprising game announcement for 2019, Warner Bros and TT Games are currently developing The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame to coincide with the anticipated film sequel. As you might expect, it's set to feature Emmett, Lucy, Batman, and all the faces fans will remember, as well as a bunch of new characters from The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
Head of Design at TT Games, Arthur Parsons, is excited to bring this new title to young players: "Packed with fan-favourite and exciting new characters, mysterious locations and action from both the sequel and the original blockbuster The LEGO® Movie, The LEGO® Movie 2 Videogame is a wild adventure for kids to explore."
He continues: "Players must scour the stars for rare items, materials and tools to complete their collections and help their journey across the LEGO® universe, experiencing a wide array of amazing environments, wacky vehicles and incredible creatures along the way."
It sure sounds like a LEGO game alright. We'll have to wait and see whether it brings anything new to the formula. Realistically, this being a movie tie-in, we're not expecting much more than your bog standard LEGO platformer, but it's sure to be good fun nonetheless. It's due out next year.

Lego games are always fun to play through. The first Lego movie game was probably the weakest compared to the super hero 9nes but I'm sure we will get this eventually when I hits the bargain bin. Movie looks awesome too!
Awesome news! I have a 5 year old son - the first game was one of his favorites and we played it together endlessly. He's autistic - so it's a little hard for him to learn how to play games - but this one had a playroom which was a sort of sandbox that he could run around and try out all of the characters and vehicles we unlocked through the main game. Can't wait to see his face when this one releases!
This isn't quite the least surprising game announcement of 2019, especially since the LEGO Batman movie didn't get a game. The least surprising game is one of Madden, FIFA, COD or The Show.
Personally I cant wait, my kids love the first game & film.
Not looking forward the the possible 20+ hour grind to platinum this one as well lol.
