We've said it many times before, but it remains true -- arcade racers are few and far between on PS4. Despite some valiant efforts over the last couple of years, nothing has really stood out. Onrush is well worth a look, but if you're after a racing game with actual races in it, there aren't many options. Road Redemption is the latest attempt to revive the genre as it launches on PS4 today, and you can see it in action in the new trailer.
It honestly looks like a lot of fun, even if the visuals aren't mind blowing. Heavily inspired by the Road Rash games (as well as MotorStorm and the Burnout series), this motorbike-based game combines high-speed racing through traffic with a vast assortment of weapons and offensive moves. A roguelite campaign sees you brawling your way to the top and unlocking permanent upgrades, skins, weapons, and more. The result is a game that looks like it's from the early 2000s, in a good way.
Hopefully it's as fun as it looks -- we're looking forward to giving it a shot. What do you think of Road Redemption? Drive safe in the comments below.

Will keep an eye out for reviews on this. Loved the Road Rash games as kid (wow its been that long since last Road Rash game).
£15.99 on the PSN Store.
@bindiana the good and old RoadRash ; )
I think your enthusiasm for this game will be short-lived, pardon my cynicism.
I don't think you're going to enjoy any arcade game that gets released, that is not a big-budget AAA game.
Only developers and publishers with mid/low-level budgets are interested in making arcade racing games, more or less, and these never get rated well, because the media folk and "mainstream gamers" keep expecting the same graphical quality as a big-budget AAA game.
I'm just here for 'Road Doad Redemption'
Been waiting ages for this to come to PS4, hopefully a nice alternative to Road Rash
.. I supported this years ago on PC (early access) - it's mega-fun - simple, yes, controls were spot-on though and it's just a bit of mindless arcade fun... definitely transports you back to days of Road Rash (actually, it's better imho) - if they've kept the tornado level (cars crashing down from the sky, etc.) - it's super-fun! well worth the price of entry...
