Fallout 76's first post-launch patch is out now on PlayStation 4, and it weighs in at a whopping 47GB. This is the update that Bethesda says will improve the game's performance, so let's hope that the near constant stuttering and ridiculously low frame rates are eradicated with it installed.
Bethesda has also noted that future patches shouldn't be as big as this one, so feel free to argue that the title has indeed launched in an unfinished state. With this update installed, Fallout 76 has a total size of around 100GB on Sony's system.

Holy Jeez. To the Foundry, Robin!
A patch almost as big as the game?? can you still call that a patch? I dont think thats a patch
@Amplified yeah any game be it SP or MP should never have patches almost the size of the game.
watch this be yet be another trend soon to follow.
but hey most trusted dev and all that.
@Amplified i was thinking that too
That patch is literally the size of God of War.
S rank optimization Bethesda.
@jdv95 @Enuo I just installed InFamous Second son and that game had like 3.95 Gigs of update, and that game was from 2014.
I guess sometimes it just doesn't work Todd, it just doesn't work.
And it will still be a mess.
Is 100GB post-patch? Because I thought it was already 100GB. Anyhow, this is insane and the game looks to deserve every criticism it will get. Now these patches, is something Sony should censor.
@Jaz007 they might as well throw in Skyrim within that patch right??
at this rate i wonder how big the patches for TES 6 and starfield will be with that same old mostly unchanged engine.
Is this the trend now? I remember when tony hawk pro skater 5 did this and the patch was bigger than the game and it didn't fix anything.
@jdv95 doesn't really matter considering that Bethesda doesn't fix their own damn game
@KingdomHeartsFan Given Bethesda's track record? I'm betting this will fix a few and spawn some more, remember when they patched skyrim and the dragons started flying backwards?
@KingdomHeartsFan or it will actually fix all the problems in the game, gameplay and all, I mean thats 47 Gigs of data it might as well be a different build altogether...................................
a man can dream huh? T_T
And people say Bethesda doesn't patch their games.
Meanwhile, what prefix is next in line after "tera", again? Asking for Sony.
@Flopsy are you the one the news that trashed Gamestop after being told the game couldn’t be returned and only traded?
I think they just need to rewrite/remake the game code and use that as a patch.
Bethesda wanted to make the biggest release of 2018, it's just that they took themselves a little bit too literally.
Anyone know the total file size before and after adding this 47GB patch.
What a joke lol
Just a quick correction: the games install was around 50-ishGB before the patch and post patch it hasn't risen to 100GB - it's 52.15GB. Seems that, like the enormous day 1 patch, it just replaces most of what was already there.
The way these patches are going Fallout 76 is the only flipping game your gonna have on your console at this rate. If Bethesda and it's HD texture packages on its steam version of its games is anything to go buy. They'll break this game even more because there's mods out there that were better than the official texture upgrade pack, that's how incompetent they are
They released a broken game. Patch away but the word is out that 76 is trash. Bethesda shot themselves in the foot on this shameless release.
