Veteran role-playing game developer Obsidian Entertainment is "very doubtful" that it'll make another Fallout game. The studio was responsible for Fallout: New Vegas, a game that's still considered by many to be a high point of the series. Ever since its release in 2010, fans have been asking Obsidian whether it would ever consider returning to the franchise, and although the developer's never been able to give a concrete answer, it's always seemed an unlikely scenario.
A while before Fallout 76 was officially revealed at E3, there were whispers that a new Fallout game was in the works, and as you'd expect, there was some speculation over Obsidian's possible involvement. Obviously the rumours proved to be untrue, but as mentioned, people still look back on New Vegas as one of the best, if not the best modern Fallout title.
And so fans still quiz Obsidian whenever they get the chance. Over on Twitter, a user has asked the developer what the chances are of it making another Fallout game. Obsidian's answer? A picture of a magic 8-ball saying "very doubtful".
Recently, reports saying that Microsoft was on the verge of buying Obsidian Entertainment surfaced, and if they turn out to be accurate, then there's perhaps even less chance of us ever seeing another Fallout title made by Obsidian.
You know what? At this point, we'd go for a New Vegas remaster on PS4. Even better, a remake using the Fallout 4 engine. Go on Bethesda, get it done.

I'm reluctantly resigned to the fact that Obsidian might never make another Fallout game. However, I would love a New Vegas remaster on PS4. It would definitely ease the pain.
Can't see it. It needs something though, because after the mixed reception for Fallout 4 and now an MMO, the Fallout franchise is in a strange place.
It's clear Bethesda is moving away from hardcore RPGs so I don't think Obsidian will ever make another one. It's unfortunate because for as buggy as New Vegas was, you can still find new things even paying the game for the 4th or 5th time. I'd prefer it if they got some help from Sony. With the freedom and strong backing Sony gives (and time, something Obsidian really needs), I think they could make something truly groundbreaking. Heck Alpha Protocol is a mess but anyone who's played it will always praise how brilliant the dialogue and choice system was. One of the most talented studios around that doesn't get the credit it deserves. Bethesda have moved focus to a different kind of audience. The fact that they were regarded as winners of E3 with 2 teasers for games not even in full development yet says a lot
Good thing then since they won't do any game for PlayStation anymore apparently. Probably more pc oriented games I reckon.
With Microsoft buying them i wonder what their next game on Xbox will be.
With how fallout 76 seeming less and less enjoyable....a remaster new Vegas will do well
i hope Bethesda takes the rights from them and makes a new vegas game instead, even if obsidian did release a new game it would be xbox exclusive as they are owned by microsft now.
it's the same situation with microsoft and rare.
I'm so sick of Bethesda. I will never understand how that trash company gets so many passes from people. They're just as awful as EA.
I would buy a New Vegas remake/remaster in a heartbeat.
Best Fallout Game ever.
A pity Obsidian won't make another one, they would stand to make a lot of money. And they're certainly better at it than Bethesda is
Didn't Bethesda recently brag about their single-player focus? That's what makes this Fallout MMO look odd to me, ... on the other hand they did make an Elder Scrolls MMO before this, so ...
I like Bethesda's games in general, but enjoy the games they publish more than those they make themselves.
@JJ2 Obsidian has a much stronger history with PC gaming than with consoles. It has always been their focus you could argue, looking at their games; they look and play very much like the old pc games.
New Vegas is one of, if not my favorite rpg of all time. It is saddening to know they will be off the general market. But I know they've had problems financially for years. If this can save them, then by all means go. Bethesda needs to make a real rpg and not the garbage fallout 4 was.
