Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be a big deal, but you don't need us to tell you that. We wouldn't like to guess at how huge the game's marketing budget is, but the campaign certainly doesn't end in Europe and North America.
Over in Japan, the open world adventure is reportedly being advertised everywhere. It's plastered on the side of buildings, present throughout shopping complexes, and slapped across billboards. There's just no escaping Red Dead 2, it seems.
The first Red Dead Redemption performed well in Japan on PlayStation 3, so it's no surprise that Rockstar is really pushing the sequel. Seeing its opening week sales figures is going to be particularly interesting.

I didn't realize Rockstar games were popular in Japan. I wonder if Japan likes spaghetti western movies as well...
It would kind of be full circle if they did since some movies like Magnificent Seven were inspired by a Japanese movie.
@Jriibz Wow, I was beginning to think no one else would ever comment!
I do wonder how popular Westerns are over there since it seems like a lot of them were inspired by Japanese films.
@Giygas_95 Haven't seen a single ad yet! Cod Ww2 was plastered across a few stations over here but that was after release if memory serves.
But yeah, if it's Japanese, then the subway, malls, handout tissues (lol)... Etc are covered in ads.
@Jriibz They're still pretty popular, relatively speaking. Very, very few games reach near 1 million sales in Japan. Even less if we're only talking about Western-made games.
@Jriibz think you are respectfully wrong GTA 5 was the only game to make the top 10 list of most popular games between April 1, 2013, and April 3, 2014, came in 7th no other PS3 game made the list.
plus the sales numbers are very good for a western release in Japan
