We already know that Red Dead Redemption 2 will have a day one update - Rockstar confirmed as much earlier in the week - but it didn't tell us exactly how big the patch will be. Now, VG247 has cleared this up by revealing the size of the update, and it's not too bad in the grand scheme of things.
The day one patch will be 3.3GB in size. Considering the amount of storage space Rockstar is already asking for, it's a drop in the ocean -- but if you want the optimal experience when you start playing tomorrow, you're best to get this update downloaded as soon as you can. For most modern connections, 3.3GB shouldn't take too long to complete.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is so close we can feel the rumble of galloping horses as they ride into town. Are you excited to get started? Let us know in the comments below.

Waiting for Christmas for this one. I usually buy big releases on day one, but I have too many games on the go for now.
Still can't wait to play this though
@GoodGame Probably a wise decision!
Well it still wont hit the magical 100GB. I have it installed on PS4 Slim and now it takes "only 93 GB" of space I have a few bigger games on my hard drive. (That is why i have 8TB external storage)
Next generation consoles better come with 2TB hard drives as standard.
@majkpetr if you go into the the detailed info on the hard drive. It says the game is 98GB
Don't patches generally overwrite existing installation files rather than adding to them?
Yes, excited to get started, though I'm dependant on Argos and Royal Mail so if I'm lucky I'm looking at this time tomorrow.
@FantasyMeister Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on whats broken.. might be missing textures, might be lower res textures or they might have to add additional data to make a certain feature work properly which can add to the size.
Got the digital version preloaded, i think im good.
Heading off to a midnight launch in 2 hours, can't wait for this!!
I've got to make sacrifices to make room. Nier: Automata, The Witcher 3, Everybody's Golf and Yakuza 0 have to go. GTAV, Gran Turismo Sport and Elite Dangerous will stay.
Yeeeee-haww.
@Turismo4GT I fully agree and expect them to be using UHD Blu Ray discs.
@Lychaos Well if you look at storage menu, it says 93,5 or something like that. Maybe you have a different language so it need a little more space. I have a middle europe version.
@majkpetr I live in England. Mine shows 98.15gb. I’ve only got the standard version
Considering the size of the entire game, that's not too bad for a day 1 patch.
@Lychaos I'm from Czech Republic and I have Special Edition, but i doubt it make any difference.
@majkpetr do you have it installed on an external drive? then the rest is on the internal drive. you can see how much space each game that's installed on an external drive uses on the internal drive when you disconnect the external drive and check in storage.
@manu0 Well yeah, you are right I totally forgot that there is some small file on internal drive from every game.
Just saying, that tagline is win.
3.3gig? That'll probably finish downloading before the enormous disc install is even halfway through, lol.
