Marvel's Spider-Man has been a bit of a revelation for Sony in Japan. It swung straight in at number one last week, and it's managed to retain its place at the top of the charts. For the second week in a row, Spidey dominated Japanese software, shifting a further 81,000 copies. Total sales now break 200,000, which is very impressive for a Western-made title.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the new entry worth talking about, but it didn't come close to stopping Spider-Man. Lara's latest only managed 32,000 copies on PlayStation 4. That's not quite as bad as Black Clover: Quartet Knights, however. Bandai Namco's newest anime escapade sold 4,630 copies, which means that it absolutely bombed, much like Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikers did just a couple of weeks ago.
On the hardware side of things, numbers remain low for PS4. The standard model continues to hover around 12, 000 units, while the Pro dropped to 5,000 units. These figures obviously add up over weeks and months, but it's becoming clear that the PS4 has established an audience and is now struggling to expand it further.

remember that time where the tomb raider devs said that they have nothing to fear regarding spiderman because "we have lara"?
yeah i do aswell...
... just finished Spidey last night - amazing game, a no-brain contender for GOTY... perfect-sized map, just the right amount of side-quests and daft missions.. and that combat... far better than Bats - just way more fun and fluid (and varied)...
Impressive numbers for Spidey.
Worth mentioning that Spider-Man near enough sold out week 1 (~97%), so a lot of people would’ve gone digital, which makes that week 2 number even more impressive.
Would not be surprised if it’s at 300k+ in Japan already.
Wonder when we’ll get sales PR. It looks like it’ll shatter all sorts of records.
Oof. Poor Black Clover.
It’s impressive to see that Spider-Man is doing well in the land of the rising sun, and yet, somehow Conan Exiles debuted with the same sales numbers as Shadow of the Tomb Raider. 😐
Goes to show ... release dates do make a big difference in how your game sells.
@jdv95
yep, thats come back and bit them in the ass big time, having a feeling the bloke that said this could go back in time and not say it now
it also proves to idiots like EA people do want single player games and they are important.
@jdv95 Lara Croft can visit a new tomb now, her own.
Great to see Spider-Man doing well, unfortunate Tomb Raider doesn't seem to be selling well anywhere because it's hardly a bad game.
Lara Croft > Spider-Man.
ready to get destroyed by ya'lls but honestly i think Spiderman is getting a slightly higher praise than it deserves. don't get me wrong, its a very fun game to play, but tons of issues I personally had with it too, I guess it could be a GOTY contender, but standing next to GoW, Hollow Knight and R* latest efforts would be rough
