What would we do without the Korean ratings board? Ever the source of accurate leaks, it looks like iconic PlayStation platformer Castlevania: Symphony of the Night will be re-releasing on the PlayStation 4 alongside its PC Engine CD predecessor Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. It appears the delicious duo will be sold as a pair, as part of a package named Castlevania Requiem.
This won’t be the first time that Rondo of Blood has released on a PlayStation platform, as it was remade for the PSP in 2007’s Dracula X Chronicles. Funnily enough, that UMD actually included emulated versions of both the original games, as well as some bonus bits and pieces. You could also, obviously, purchase Symphony of the Night as a PSone Classic from the PlayStation Store.
To be honest Castlevania does seem to be on the cusp of a comeback, between Smash Bros cameos and new smartphone titles, so we’d expect Konami to make this brand new PS4 compilation official any minute now.

@Nakatomi_Uk Maybe it is on the PS Classic? We don't know the full lineup yet. Even if it is, people still might want to buy it for the PS4, right?

It will definitely have trophy support too, unlike in the PSOne Classic. Seems Castlevania is having a revival, as there’s also a second season of its animated show coming in late October.

Just finished symphony of the night on psp in the dracula X chronicles.
Edit: also I heard rumours of a castlevania collection for ps4 and switch containing castlevania 1 to 4, vampire killer, rondo of blood, dracula X and SOTN. Maybe they’re part of this rumoured collection.
Now that I think about it Requiem may just be an HD port of Dracula X Chronicles with trophy support.

Anyway in all seriousness, SotN and Rondo of Blood may very well be the greatest Castlevania games of all time. Rondo was pure classic Castlevania greatness while SoTN took the series in a bold new direction and became the defining example of Metroidvania that persists to this very day. If they released both games as a sort of package deal and got the emulation right, I would be all over these. There's not that many solid versions of SoTN. Include all the Saturn extras for an even better package. If Konami plays their cards right, they could really strike gold with this release.
Or they could do like they did with the Xbox 360 version and just poorly emulate it. With Konami acting the way they do today, I wouldn't put it past them to put up shoddy emulations of both games, charge a premium for them, and call it a day.
Here's hoping that doesn't happen. I'm personally hoping for a Castlevania Collection.
@Wesker It would be perfect. The only extra thing I would like is widescreen support on the original titles.
Wow, this is right on time. I've been looking for a way to play Rondo, but I haven't had luck with emulators so far. Kind of wish I hadn't gotten SotN on PS3 recently though.

Two of the best games I've ever played and as good as SOTN is, Rondo of Blood is the better game but then again I always preferred the side scrollers to the so called Metroidvania style. If only they'd put Super Castlevania IV in there too and this would be a perfect collection
If it comes with Rondo I will purchase it, if not then I won't. I already have enough copies of SotN.
this is probably for playstation classic console... why would sony suddenly start putting out ps 1 classics on ps4 if it is trying to sell us a ps1 classic console? it doesn't add up.
Any Castlevania is appreciated old or new I love these games.
Rondo of blood is my favorite of the 'classic' Castlevania games the graphics and music are fantastic especially for the time.
Symphony of the night.... well everyone knows about that, the game that put the 'vania' into metroidvania, absolute classic gem of a game.
It’s about time Konami reaches back!
