Lord Of The Rings Mmo

There's a brand new Lord of the Rings video game heading our way at some point in the future. The announcement comes from publisher Leyou Technologies, as it confirms that Athlon Games -- a studio under its umbrella -- will partner with Middle-earth Enterprises to create "a new AAA experience".

Apparently, it'll be a free-to-play MMO, and it'll feature "lands, people and creatures never seen before by fans of the Tolkien universe." The press release says that it's coming to "consoles", but no specific platforms are mentioned. We assume the PlayStation 4 is a target, but maybe the inevitable PS5 isn't out of the question, depending on when this title actually comes out. It's unclear how far into development the game is at this point.
