Dead or Alive 6 got a great new trailer during Sony's PlayStation LineUp Tour event in Japan. It gives us a few glimpses at the game's story mode, and shows off some fresh gameplay. It also confirms that Marie Rose and Honoka will be part of the character roster.
What's more, Dead or Alive 6 now has a concrete release date. It's due to launch worldwide for PlayStation 4 on the 15th February, 2019.

You had me at Marie Rose.
Giving this one a hard pass. Bought every other DoA game but not liking the direction the new guy is charge is going with it. No fanservice and with the blood and bruises it's essentially like he thinks these games need to be MK wannabes to move the series forward. I play all sorts of extremely brutal games so it's not the violence that bothers me, it's that it's not DoA.
Bah, don't really feeling it. I love DoA but the giant tentacle, the T-rex and the water slide are a bit too much for me. And it's very cool they want to dress the girls up a little bit but those outfits are hideous!
@Gamer83 I'm new to this series, but I wouldn't rule out the fanservice yet...I mean, don't you just start off with 2 costumes anyway in all the other games? I wouldn't be surprised if everyone got some more fanservice-y costumes later down the line, or unlocked in-game (and personally, I always thought that most of skimpy outfits in these games were kinda lazy/bad looking, unfortunately). The boob-jiggling and camera close-ups after you lose a match are also features I think are neat but I personally never really noticed/took advantage of, honestly.
Don't get me wrong...I'm as big a pervert as there is out there, but I don't blame the game director for trying to make it so "fanservice" isn't the first thing you think of when you hear "DoA." I'm hoping the gameplay is improved as a result, but we'll see.
Nice, a fighting game that will have a story mode at launch, lol. I'm hoping the roster won't suffer as a result...let's see some more fighters!
@Feena I kinda like the outfits, although it's getting into Final Fantasy territory with how over-designed some of them are.
And yeah...the T-rex thing is a little too much, since I'm all about lore and backstories in games...like, do they live in a world where they've resurrected dinosaurs?
Well, I guess that's not too far off, considering there's demons and stuff (i.e. Ninja Gaiden is part of the same shared universe).
@Gamer83 I know what you mean on the direction it’s going. What kinda bugs me is that it’s pretty obvious that they are covering the girls. I guess I wouldn’t mind it as much if the costume are good but I find them to be meh. I’ll probably end up getting it anyways cause I’ve always liked the gameplay.
@keihtg clothes are the least of the problems.
They changed girls proportions, they changed the game physics, they changed the gameplay to be more casual (as if the game weren't easy enough for everyone to learn) and it's not about being a pervert but like people already said many times, gore is a part of MK in a way that when you talk about MK, Gore is one of the first things that comes to mind and DoA is as much fanservice as MK is gore.
It's the DNA of the game and it's not wise to change that because a couple of journalists don't like sexy women.
@VRDart Good point on the Mortal Kombat thing. Yeah, hot ladies is definitely a big part of the appeal with this series, whether the game director likes it or not, but I personally haven't noticed that much of a difference. The girls still have huge boobs that still jiggle around (see 0:29) and the classic costumes are there if you don't like the new ones. I see a lot of people bashing this game already, but from what I can tell...it doesn't seem like it's changed a lot!
Regarding the gameplay, what have you heard that makes it "more casual"? Just wondering since I haven't read anything about that.
@keihtg they added a "one button combo" to the game.
@VRDart Hmmmm...I see. I looked that up just now...I think maybe that's the "Fatal Rush" system? It's a slo-mo offensive or defensive combo you can trigger once your special bar fills up (from attacking and doing normal combos). Doesn't sound too bad, IMHO.
@keihtg it's not too bad, but it's casualization nonetheless.
@shonenjump86
If they want to give default costumes where the girls are covered head-to-toe because they think that will make people more interested in the game, I'm absolutely fine with that. But there should be custom options for people, like myself and even some women out there, who prefer to see the female characters in a little more revealing clothing. I guess at the end of the day though, the reason this really bothers me isn't so much because they're removing the fanservice, it's because it feels like they're removing the fanservice to pander to an audience that has never and will never buy their games. It doesn't seem like a natural evolution for the series or a necessary change.
@keihtg New costumes you can unlock.
No they will come with DLC 100 % sure.
@Splat Im more a Tina or Lei Fang fan she look funny though.
@keihtg Hey you tried Soulcaliber 6 already its awsome. 😁
