Ah, Supermassive Games – after all those spin-offs, we’d forgotten your unique brand of campy horror. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan looks every inch the Until Dawn successor in this gameplay demo from Gamescom 2018, trading on daft dialogue exchanges and borderline unfair jump scares. We love it already.
The gameplay seems similar to its cult PlayStation 4 exclusive, with an emphasis on exploration and decision making. The really exciting thing is that this is the first in a series, with the Guildford developer promising more spooky stories in due time. Just one question, though: what is going on with Fliss’ clothes? The poor girl’s barely wearing anything at all!

So is this Project Mephisto?
@Enuo To tell you the truth, I don't actually know what that turned out to be.
Why is this site called PushSquare when I need a mouse to use it?
Better be a physical release!
@jFug +1
Until Dawn was my biggest surprise this gen so I'm really looking forward to this.
love the idea of anthology compare to episodic since it will give u different story per game, just hope this is not a full price game.
Until Dawn was a short game, and this one will be even shorter then?
Episodic games really get on my nerves! Why not just make a full fledged title a release it in one.
They could still have many little stories in one game kind of like watching Tales from the crypt.
@Boxmonkey if im not mistaken it has the same format as tales from the crypt, every game features different story and title under dark pictures, and thats what anthology means.
"Just one question, though: what is going on with Fliss’ clothes? The poor girl’s barely wearing anything at all!"
The girl was wearing a vest top and shorts, just your average beach wear. She was hardly running around in her underwear!
Why did they choose "Hopeful" at 7:00? I'm fairly sure that "Annoyed" is the only correct answer for when someone sneaks up behind you like that.
Until Dawn was excellent, so I'm looking forward to this.
@jFug I'm thinking if there is no physical release with each entry in the series they will at least bundle them all together in a physical release at the end.
Personally though I think there will be a physical release with each entry in the Anthology.
Bare feet on an old rusty iron floor... that's gonna hurt.
I just wish they come out and tell us the length of this from the start, since its an anthology,im guessing a lot shorter than until dawn.
@Boxmonkey Yeah it's not episodic, it's a brand. Each game will be a standalone story.
Hope it gets a physical release with a similar price as hidden agenda.
@get2sammyb wait, are they full games like 6-10 hours and come years apart or short 2-3 hour games each?
@AFCC We don't know yet. My guess is they'll be a few hours long and priced accordingly.
@get2sammyb Don't everyone thank me at once. I did some digging around on you tube. Ps access on you tube revealed today the game is 4-5 hours long. At that length it better not cost more than 39.99 euro,or else I will wait for a sale. From their preview, looks like the game is well into development. Probably out in the 1st 3 months of 2019.
@Cordeceps Here's to hoping! Since each of these games are going to be around 4-5 hrs each, I'd expect to see them retail for $39.99 USD.
Finished the gameplay video this looks good, looking forward to hearing more info!
Loved Until Dawn, thought it was a great story and this new one looks even creepier. It has the atmosphere and it looks great. Day 1 buy for me. Or I may wait until the 2nd drops because I think it is 2 stories a yr and then buy both. The only thing I worried about when they are pumping out 2 series a yr is how long is each story gonna be? I bet they are gonna be quite short, If they are then they shouldn't be triple A price!!!!!
@get2sammyb I was hoping it would be a full game like Until Dawn but if the episodes are good...why not?
Ok I watched the gameplay and the dialogue gets weird and cringy lol
Also...ww2 zombies? Please :/ the setting is pretty cool but this small showcase didn't do it for me, I need more!
Btw, why did they just ignore the fact that the first guy disappeared?
