We're cautiously optimistic about Team Sonic Racing. Early gameplay footage has looked bright, cheerful, and fun, and with Sumo Digital at the helm, it's in safe hands. We're still unsure, however, on whether it'll measure up to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, a wonderful kart racer with lots of variety thanks to its inclusion of a wide range of SEGA properties.

Coming from Gamescom is the above new footage from IGN, and it's still looking pretty solid. The cooperative mechanics are all good ideas, and while the track itself looks pretty static, the game as a whole has a fittingly colourful visual style. We also learn that the full game will feature 21 tracks that take inspiration from seven locations from various Sonic titles, and that outside of the story mode, you can mix and match teams as much as you want.

Also, it's worth noting that regular single player races will be in the game. This detail came from a Famitsu preview a while back. For those turned off by the team racing angle, this should come as good news.
