So the other day, Bandai Namco announced the first DLC character for SoulCalibur VI. Fan-favourite fighter Tira will be unlocked if you buy the game's season pass, or she can be purchased separately. As you'd expect, this didn't go down well with fans of the franchise. A returning character being stuck behind an additional paywall? Not a great look.
But it's not just the fact that Tira's DLC -- it's that she was announced so early. This has lead to speculation over whether the final in-game character roster has been decided, consisting only of the characters that have been revealed so far. If so, then it's slim pickings.
Thankfully, that's not the case according to Bandai Namco. Talking to IGN at Gamescom 2018, product manager Pierre Tartaix confirms that the company "hasn't announced the full roster yet". Fans who were expecting a lot more from SoulCalibur VI's lineup of warriors can breathe a sigh of relief.
Still, we can't help but think that announcing a DLC character before revealing the full roster is a dumb idea.

All these new fighting games drip feeding the base game roster up to release are getting really annoying and it just diminishes my hype until it's non existent upon release. Even if I don't watch the trailers or read articles about it.
Why in the hell would you announce dlc characters if the whole roster of characters isn't announced yet wth.
Not a good PR move, Bandai Namco.
My guess is that this stumble out of the gate will cost them quite a few preorders. Mine is certainly one of them.
Namco bandai really likes bad preses. 😕
Cervantes better f****** not be dlc!
