Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a cracking and intense multiplayer game on PS4, but currently, you can only enjoy it if you own PlayStation VR. The headset wearer can see the bomb and must disarm it while the other participants bark instructions from a comprehensive manual.
However, it's just been announced on the PlayStation Blog that the game is receiving a free update later this month that makes it playable without virtual reality. From 16th August, you'll be able to play in a more accessible setup, with the bomb displayed on the TV. It's designed to be played locally, but you can technically play it online via party chat. If you're defusing the bomb, your friends can download the manual for free, hop in a party, and play along.
The title will also be receiving a 10% discount for the week following the introduction of this update, so if you've ever wanted to give this a whirl, it'll soon be the perfect time. Will you be playing Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes when it updates next week? Have you already played it via PSVR? Remain calm in the comments below.

That trailer.
that's another one, guess VR wasn't the success they hoped it would be
Best game theme tune ever!
@FullbringIchigo Or they were satisfied with its performance but feel they could still reach a larger audience? Things aren't black and white — even if it had sold 5 million copies on VR, there'd still be the potential to sell more on other platforms.
This is one of my favourite games to keep going back to on PSVR, it's a shame it's losing VR exclusivity
@get2sammyb yes that too but we also have to remember that it's just as likely that it wasn't selling because it was tethered to a platform most PS4 gamers don't have and so they opened it up to to a larger audience
i'm not being negative or hating on the PSVR but some one had to point out that it COULD have been selling badly and that's why they did it, it just as plausible a reason
@Simon_Fitzgerald I think it's great - it means people without the headset get to play too. Myself included!
@Quintumply @FullbringIchigo Yeah I see how it's a good thing but at the same time if all developers of VR titles start making their games available without PSVR then I can see PSVR getting dropped very quickly by consumers as there is no exclusive content making it worthwhile for them to pick it up. I've had PSVR since launch and tbh nowadays it just stays in it's box because I don't feel as though it's getting enough software that interests me.
@FullbringIchigo They knew what they were getting in to.
The install-base for VR on PS4 will never compare to the now 80 Million + potential users. I wouldn't say they'd regret making it in VR, but looking for more sales makes a lot of sense.
When it comes down to it, I'll try it in non-VR out of curiosity, but this is definitely one of the games I'd say works very well in the isolated local multiplayer VR space (which is few and far between).
Making a game VR/non-VR for now makes the most sense to optimize sales. Just as long as it's not a tossed in VR sidemode or something like that.
Wont this mean the tension of the game is lost. I can just flip open the manual on my lap and do it myself. Which kind of defeats the point.
I am not sure it would have the same appeal for me in a non-VR setting. Part of the charm when I play it on PSVR is the isolation of having to defuse the device in front of me that the instructors cannot see. The VR player has a tactile sense of manipulating the device and the instructors cannot peak at it. I am happy more people get to try it, but I do not think it will provide the same intensity of experience.
This required PSVR? What a boneheaded decision.
@Simon_Fitzgerald Consumers already dropped PSVR and now game makers are following.
@mahe Sounds like you want VR to fail which if that's the case then that's "boneheaded"
Fair enough, I suppose. Can't see it being the same experience though without VR.
@adf86 It already failed so I don't need to want anything.
