With Assassin's Creed Origins and its Curse of the Pharaohs expansion, Ubisoft let the dev team off its leash, and the result was one of the most creative, exciting adventures in the entire franchise. However, it was only an expansion and not a full game, unlike Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which is bringing hefty does of magic and myth to the table throughout the main campaign.
So we already know that lead character Alexios, or Kassandra, depending on who you choose to play as, has access to a magical spearhead that lets them pull off all sorts of crazy moves, but things get taken to the next level when you're up against actual creatures of Greek legend.
In Game Informer's latest Odyssey gameplay video, clocking in at a meaty 24 minutes, Kassandra ends up brawling with Medusa. Yes, that Medusa.
Some fans are already displeased with the way Odyssey appears to veering away from the series' historical roots, but where do you stand on this? Don't look into her eyes in the comments section below.

Also know as โGod of Assassins War Creed.โ
What do you mean? I saw that documentary about Ancient Greece, Clash of the Titans, and it had loads of that stuff in. Next you'll be telling me that Golden robot owls aren't real. You can't block the truth Push Square.
Not accurate? You'll be telling me the moon isn't full of Thrall next.
'Member when you fought a pope we wielded a magic staff? Oh, I 'member!
First battlefield now assassins creed... What is the world coming too! ๐
Did anybody actually watch the end of the fight? It was an ordinary woman who had been corrupted by an Apple of Eden. No different than the effect pieces of Eden have had on past antagonists in the franchise. Oh but wait, that doesnโt make for much of a sensational headline, does it?
@NorrinRadd Oh sorry, what you just explained sounds 100% historically accurate. My bad. Headline is clearly a lie.
@ShogunRok
Because AC has a lengthy history of being historically accurate. My bad.
Wtf is happening with AC? xD
Hope this is just a sidequest not related to the story!
I don't get why anyone is complaining, loved the fight.
Wow i always thought AC was historically accurate. Jumping off high buildings into inches of water. Not to mention having a magical Apple of Eden that controls people .You mean to tell me this is unreal Oh the HORROR hahahaha
Man that voice acting lmao.
Cassandra is still a bae though.
@ShogunRok You're not wrong, but I don't think it's ever been historically accurate. Not quite a departure from a series that's always played fast and loose with history (which, to be fair, is probably one of it's most distinguishing features). Also the "magic" is fairly consistent with the First Civilisation objects in the series (as outlandish as it is).
That said, I really wish they made it more interesting to explore First Civilisation locations. Horizon did a fantastic job with the exploration of ancient sites and I feel the devs could do a better job fleshing out the First Civilisation and how you find out about them
@NintendoFan4Lyf The Animus is still a thing but they're starting to stretch whatever believability there was in it. There's been a shift from the Animus allowing the person to relive an ancestors memories, to the Animus creating simulations that allow anyone to relive anyone else's memories (a new model of the animus). I still think the transition is a bit unclear lore-wise but I can't claim to be a massive fan so I haven't pored over every detail. I do know that a lot of fans think the lore is being broken though, for the sake of transitioning to an RPG. Reliving a memory can't allow for player choice so they had to find a way to make the Animus capable of allowing a character to choose between multiple paths as they move towards more RPG mechanics. What is a bit confusing for me is how the Animus can recreate and simulate whole worlds based on different decisions you make. I'm sure there's AC fans out there who could better explain it, but I hope I kinda answered your question (i.e. it is still a thing haha).
Maybe people will boycott it then buy it anyway, just like they will bfv ๐
