God of War is one of the biggest success stories of 2018, so of course there’s more on the way. And a job listing on developer Sony Santa Monica’s website suggests that the studio is ready to start work on the inevitable sequel. The company is currently looking for a concept artist to “help create high quality characters, gods, creatures, and props”. The franchise isn’t explicitly mentioned, but it doesn’t take a genius to realise what it’s referring to, does it?
There is a small possibility that there could still be an expansion pack in the pipeline, although it’s something that the first-party firm has ruled out on a number of occasions now. Our guess is that it’s gearing up for the follow-up after that cliffhanger ending, and it can’t come soon enough as far as we’re concerned.

Santa Monica is working on the Game of the Generation for the next generation. Wonder what year though God of War 2020, 2021 or 2022? Word up, son.

The ending of horizon was better than gow imo. Probably the wrong place to discuss that though.

It's probably gonna be a launch title for the PS5 but hopefully they prove me wrong and release it sooner on PS4
Imagine if this comes out in about 6 years' time. It's a ps5 title, and it makes a mid gen graphical and technical leap equal to the PS4 GOW. Imagine how incredible that would be.
Excited doesn't cover it. Honestly the PS4 version is easily my favourite game this gen. It even beats Bloodborne.

Wish I would have read that before playing the game, would have waited for the PS5 4k remaster. OK, no, glad I played it when I did, still wish I had known though.
This epic reboot deserves a sequel....it even knocked Zelda BOTW off top spot for me. I still cannot believe how much depth there is to the fighting, the combos you can string together with the help of Adreus is immense, you can literally string together a 5 minute combo non-stop. GOW sequel can't come soon enough. Cory Barlog, I take my hat off to you sir, the game turned out near perfect! 👏

Such a spectacular game. I thought Horizon was going to be tough to beat but a year later this beast comes along and tries that thought out the window. Can't wait for both sequels!

Yeah, no that I've had time to let it sink in, I'm confident saying this is my favorite game of the generation so far, just a bit ahead of Yakuza Zero and I don't think there are too many more that have a chance to top it (Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us Part II being the main contenders). Whenever the sequel hits, I'm buying day one, no question about that.
@JoeBloggs I doubt it will take them another 5 years to release a sequel, they have already built the top notch game engine there now, so a massive chunk of that 5 year project is no longer necessary. They'll likely improve upon the game engine in prep for the inevitable arrival of ps5 and get to work on creating another masterpiece. Finger crossed. 🤞
Makes me wonder what the sequel would be called? God of War II?
