Wow! In a showcase packed with promising PlayStation 4 exclusives, Naughty Dog once again rose to the challenge with a demo of The Last of Us: Part II that delivered on every level. We start out at some kind of prom, where a 19-year-old Ellie is living a normal life with her girlfriend. It’s typical stuff from the developer: subtle, beautiful, and unlike anything you’ve seen in a video game before.
Then the figurative of course hits the fan. The next time we see Ellie she’s thrust back into her harsh surroundings, where she must survive. The gameplay is tense and very dynamic; it’s unclear how much is scripted in the demo, but it feels like the game is going to give you the creative potential to get out of any skirmish any way you like. It’s tense stuff.
Naughty Dog continues to raise the bar, and while there’s no date attached to The Last of Us: Part II yet, it’s looking like it’s going to live up to the developer’s outrageous legacy.

The ultimate Sammy Game has arrived. (This looks so good!)
Been wanting to pre-order this for a long time now! Hopefully, there's no issue with Amazon since this is a Sony exclusive game.
Absolutely amazing, as expected. Hey @get2sammyb, did they give a date? Year? Something at all date related to Death Stranding, Tlou2 or Ghost of Tsushima?
Looks great. Naughty Dog will always hold a special place in my heart.
Bring back Joel <3
This gameplay was just perfect
Did anyone else notice the seamless animation of Ellie picking up the brick then throwing it? Wow.
Yo this right here looks amazing and literally gave me chills at the end when it cut back to them at the dance and the one woman saying “I told you they should be afraid” jus wow such good stuff
@Neolit you can’t be serious?
Very... Violent and... Raw. Must. Buy.
The attention to detail in the animations and movement is amazing
Uuugh its killing meeeee. Im stuck at work for another hr 1/2.
Its totally gay so day 1 for me 😃
Looks great. Day one.
HYPED!
ND are at the top of the food chain & Ellie is the ultimate predator.
@Tulio517 Nothing yet.
Can't wait for this game, I want a release date, maybe it's fall 2019 or early 2020
@get2sammyb alright, just to confirm. Thanks!
Did you guys notice the big enviroment? The gameplay looks solid too, can't wait for another masterpiece made by ND.
@Neolit lol you got me
@get2sammyb lol I love that you actually went through with the avatar change
Looks as boring as the first game.
I like it so far. I just hope the gameplay is more polished than the first game. Yeah, unpopular opinion, but I had bad luck with some glitches, controls and weaker design at certain points. It held it back from being the masterpiece I keep hearing it is in my eyes. I have hope that this will be better though.
@JoeBlogs PS4 version was the one I played, yeah. Framerate was smooth and definitely looked good, but it didn't fix the problems I had. Literally everything but the gameplay in my opinion was amazing. Even then, I liked the idea of the gameplay, despite not really liking survival horror. If I didn't have the above mentioned issues, 10/10. As it stands I think it's a solid 8.
The thing that struck me first was how similar the gameplay was to shadow of the tomb raider. Except this time there was weight, motivation and consequence to the violence, and so much tension. It looks incredible, and is readily my most anticipated game. Need to see Joel soon too though!!
Just a shame to see the toxic response on Twitter, YouTube etc about the kiss scene. Gamers are the worst sometimes.
That looks absolutely fantastic, exactly what I was expecting from the ps4 years ago. The way Ellie interacts with the environment and the physics looks perfect. That's the best thing I've ever seen in a game. Wow.
While the mechanics look fantastic I have to say, maybe I'm getting old, but I don't dig all that realistic violence anymore. Maybe because I too aware of what kind of place the world is. I don't know. That said. It looks awesome. I just hope they can fashion that kind of "bond" that kept you going int he first one.
@SegaBlueSky I think that kind of people are the vocal minority. The trailer was diverse, had people of all colors, we saw "alternative sexuality" (for me as a hetero it is alternative) and guess what: I couldn't care less. I don't mind strong female leads, quite the contrary actually, I don't mine people of color, I just want a good film/game what have you. But that's what the big corporations like Lucas Film seem to forget nowadays. The WORLD just needs to learn the number one internet rule: don't feed the trolls. They'll go away.
I mean that looked AMAZING! The animations looked insanely realistic....... A little... Too realistic? Are we sure this was 100% real ps game play?
So many small subtle movements and actions that make me think it might be cg.
Too good to be true. If not then holy hell!
@JoeBlogs Many people are complaining though. A shame.
Wow! This looks incredible. Best game by a mile I've seen at this E3.
And I thought Miss Croft was violent.
That looked amazing. I’m so hype. The game seemed really responsive and I loved how much weight was behind the impact animations
I've always thought that TLOU pretty much ended perfectly and didn't need a sequel. But this looks stunning and judging by the first section we're going to get some more nuance to the characters (something that is largely missing in most video games). I'm really curious to see where they go with Ellie and her development considering what's she been through and it could very well go quite dark (those first trailers certainly suggest that).
@Bliquid Crying i guess. 😁 😋
@ApostateMage I dont hate Lara but i think Ellie would kick her ass. I love to see that female characters are so awsome now. So funny how Sony had to evolve from girls dont sell and now they are amongst the main leads. And damn Ellie you are awsome. 😁 😃
Looks amazing!
@JoeBlogs you obviously haven't been on Twitter
on topic, i'll be honest i DIDN'T like the first game and i didn't see anything here to convince me otherwise, yeah it looks great and it has the Naughty Dog charm but i just couldn't get into it
props to all those fans who are excited though, i'm sure your going to get a game you will love, it's just not for me
What a presentation! Simply cannot wait! Very excited to jump into the multiplayer. I’m still very active on TLOU MP.
Wheres joel.thats who i want to see word up son
To be honest as much as I liked the first game,it wasn't one of my faves but I love the look of this!Absolutely brutal!
Day one.
@Scollurio Let's watch the language please.
@Neolit i agree.where the hell is joel👿.word up son
Looks like the type of game where I'll die over and over again, just like the original. I'll pass. Looks very bland so far, anyway.
Sammy please change your avatar back. I can't handle Phil any more, it doesn't suit you!
@Tasuki huh? Did you edit my comment because I cant seem to find what offended you!
@Scollurio "Maybe because I too aware of what kind of place the world is."
That part was edited, and for the record it offend me it's just the rules.
@Tasuki Ah! Thanks for clarifying. I love my language colorful it seems!
@Bliquid Exactly.
When I saw the trailer I was honestly shocked to see Ellie kissing that girl, had no idea she was a lesbian.
That's what I get for never playing the Left Behind DLC.
