Death's Gambit has been a long time coming. We first heard about it a good couple of years ago, and it's always looked like an impressive 2D action game. The brand new trailer embedded above is nicely animated, and features some slick hack and slashing sequences.

The big news, however, is that we finally have a concrete release date: Death's Gambit will finally launch on PS4 on 14th August 2018.

This Castlevania-esque adventure doesn't appear to be pulling any punches, promising a very stern challenge. As with all games of this ilk, death is just part of the experience, as art director Alex Kubodera writes on the PlayStation Blog. "In the inevitable event of your death, we don’t want you to feel discouraged. It happens to the best of us. Even death is a measure of your progress in Death’s Gambit. Dying to bosses will reward you experience based on how well you do. This should help you avoid farming and stay focused on what’s really important." Be sure to read more through here.
