God of War PS4 PlayStation 4 1

When you’re in the nucleus of any video game website, it can be hard to forget that real people work really hard to bring the titles we love to life. This message from God of War director Cory Barlog’s father posted publicly on Twitter earlier today serves as a reminder that there are actual humans behind every PlayStation 4 release.

“Congratulations, son,” wrote James Barlog. “We are very proud of you and your phenomenal team.” He copied in Cory Barlog and Sony Santa Monica’s Twitter handles, and also included an image of the game’s Metacritic score, which currently sits at a phenomenal 94, making it one of the highest scoring PS4 games of the generation.

Cory responded: “Thank you, pops. Love you. Can’t wait to share with everyone what we have been working on together.” It all brings a tear to the eye really, doesn’t it? Even more so when you consider that God of War is quite literally about the paternal bond between father and son. Oh stop, we’re going to blub.
