Assassin’s Creed Dynasty could be the codename of the next game in Ubisoft’s historical stealth series, although further details are unknown. PSU reported on the name yesterday, sourcing an ex-Technicolor employee. We attempted to dig for more details but came up short, however respected Kotaku journalist Jason Schreier wrote on Twitter that he “believes” the codename is real.
The website then went on to speculate that the release "could" be set in China, before suggesting Japan as an alternative possibility in an update. It later backtracked on the whole thing, noting that it has no knowledge on the game itself outside of the proposed codename. So there you have it: there may or may not be a title called Assassin’s Creed Dynasty in the works. Make of that what you will.

This makes me want a new Tenchu
I am kinda worried for Sucker Punch a little bit, I must admit. Assassin's Creed was always going to head in this direction, but it'd be a shame if they did Japan for example right around when Ghost of Tsushima is scheduled to release.
If they did to a Chinese dynasty one it will most likely be like Dynasty Warriors 9.
@get2sammyb depends.if ghost of tshushima release in September.no worries.if it realease in January next year they ain't got nothing to worry about.word up son
@get2sammyb Assassin's Creed are usually holiday titles, whereas I think Ghost of Tsushima is an early 2019 title. It could be a problem if AC Dynasty comes out this year and gets heavily promoted with DLC into 2019... We'll see.
@playstation1995 @Octane Still makes Sucker Punch's game less unique, though.
Hmmm Dynasty to me suggests China, which is also a huge market right now. I hope that Ubisoft learn their lesson though and make this a 2019 release. A longer dev cycle makes a huge difference and there isn't enough time to implement lessons learned from Origins in a 2018 release.
@get2sammyb I wouldn't be worried for Ghost of Tshushima. Even if AC does go to Japan. I would expect the two to be different enough - not just in Story but in Game-play too.
Assassin's Creed would no doubt be similar to Origins in a lot of ways and that would include the movement and combat too. No doubt they will get compared with each other but I also think they would offer enough differences to co-exist. Its like Day's Gone vs Last of Us 2 or even World War Z. For all we know, Ghost of Tsushima could be more 'historically' accurate, not be running around on rooftops, scaling pagodas to synchronize with the world, high diving into hay, running around like a Ninja and stealth killing with hidden blades, using Animus Pulse to see enemies and their position, path etc. We don't know if it will be an RPG or have RPG elements, an upgrade path, multitude of weapons with differing stats, etc. It could be more different than CoD vs Battlefield - even if the two focus on the same era of combat.
Personally, I hope Ubisoft have learned their lesson with AC. I am still amazed at how quickly they were able to build games like AC4, Unity and Syndicate - 3 very different eras and worlds. I know Unity was more 'ambitious' for the consoles that were around, still ambitious now with the mid-gen refreshes - but they still built a large playground, new characters, NPC's, story etc in a year so it wouldn't be outside the realms of possibility that they could take the 'Origins' template and change the setting, characters etc and release a new AC in 2018. Origin's didn't have any fundamental flaws as such, a few bugs/glitches at launch. It could be used as a template but I think an extra year between would also allow more time to ensure the game is polished for launch, maybe add something 'new' in some way and more importantly stop the franchise from feeling 'stale' and almost like a reskin of Origins.
An Assassin's Creed Musou game would be brilliant.
@get2sammyb One would think that Assassin's Creed being the twentieth game in the franchise would make it less unique!
@get2sammyb I feel both this new AC & Ghost of Tsushima will be very different from each other. I also believe Ghost of Tsushima’s combat will be better than AC’s.
Maybe its an assassin's creed in Denver, Colorado about a rich family 😂
I'd love it to be set in China. I'm a big Dynasty Warriors fan and find Chinese history fascinating. I prefer Japan in general but there's already loads of games set in Japan.
@Kidfried Thing is, whatever it's called it's going to be an English word - and therefore derived from the usual pool of Indo-European language groups. You can't really base it on that. I mean, if it was set in China, they're not gonna call it "Assassin's Creed Wángcháo" are they? (Chinese for "dynasty", thanks Google).
Actually, I would be fine to let Assassins Creed lie for a couple years like they did before Origins. Play a little hard-to-get, Ubisoft. Don’t water this thing down again now that you have it up and running again.
It's a Assassin's Creed: Dynasty Warrior
