Crash Bandicoot is back. Last year’s excellent N. Sane Trilogy appeared to take even Activision by surprise, becoming one of the bigger success stories of 2017 with minimal marketing spend. And now a merchandising company in a European licensing manual has hinted that a new game is on the way.
“There will be another game in 2019,” said Max Arguile, the licensing manager at merchandising company GB Eye. “Activision has a five year plan for this and GB Eye is delighted to be on board for all products.” There’s also mention of Nintendo Switch and PC versions of the N. Sane Trilogy, although curiously it sounds like the Xbox One could be left out in the dark.
Given the ‘Coot’s established association with PlayStation, it’s likely Sony will continue to work closely with Activision when it comes to marketing and promoting various Crash-related titles – although it was inevitable that the character would go multiformat again at some point. Don’t be surprised to see an updated version of Crash Team Racing announced at E3 2018 later this year.

Great!! PS5 needs to be backwards compatible, though, I don't wanna lose Crash at its best for 3 gens again...
P.S: I love that picture! Crash's facial expressions are the best. =)
I wonder if they'll go the safe route with another linear platformer or go for a more open ended format like Twinsanity (or the cancelled Crash Landed). I'm fine with either one, personally.
Crash is back! Again...
Pity it's still under Activision's name though, with them behind it I'm always concerned on how they'll screw it up.
I hope "new game" actually means a new game, but it's nice to see Crash is around for the long haul.
@DerMeister A five year plan would almost certainly include a brand new game IMO. I'm confident we'll see Crash Team Racing first, though.
I'll wait and see what Activision have in mind before getting too excited about this one.
@get2sammyb I don't doubt it, I just personally hope that we get something brand new soon. I know I harp on about it too much, but I am happy either way. I'd probably get a CTR remake, especially since my original copy is old and banged up.
Oh Activision that sounds bad the great minds behind Destiny 2 and COD remasters with microtransactions and DLC more expensive then the original. The lootboxes company with a overwatch competition which the players fund with skins of €5 each yeah great.... .
Can't blame them for trying after the success of the remake. But personally all I'm likely to grab now that's Crash related is a well made CTR remake and Crash Bash.
@adf86 just the term "five year plan" has me worried.
We're past the point of needing remakes (but people still go nuts for them and constantly ask for them) so just make a totally new game and be done with it.
It's also telling that Activision was "surprised" at the success of the trilogy. They probably couldn't imagine people just wanted to PLAY a game instead of buying MTX and waiting on expansions...
I've never felt this way before, but Crash being on other platforms disgusts me lol
How long did the n sane trilogy take to develop??
Spyro.
I'm hyped. Hope they bring over the PS2 games as ports/remasters or even as PS2 Classics.
Hopefully this will lead to Spyro Trilogy Remaster and new games for that franchise as well!
@kyleforrester87 All the crates will be loot crates, and you don't get to destroy them. You have to pay to open them. So there will be literal paywalls in the game! I need to work for Activision
@Octane day one!!!
Crash has been on other platforms for quite a while...Crash Bandicoot 4 on all three in the past, Crash Twinsanity, Crash of the Titans and Crash Mind Over Mutant. I'll agree that the original 3 and Bash and Tag Team need to be a playstation exclusive, considering he was their mascot for a while, but I'm fine with it coming on other platforms too...besides, it already helped sell PS4's...just weird how they'd skip the Xbox One.
@Octane $2 each if you want the trophy you unlocked too.
Good stuff, as long as Activision doesn't mess it up.
I like Crash N' all, but I don't know if I'd be interested in anymore new games. The N' Sane trilogy is enough to last me the rest of the generation, but I'd be all over CTR.
May sound selfish or fanboyish, but I still wish Crash would be PlayStation exclusive forever & always. Just imagine how Xbox fans would feel if Halo went multiplatform or imagine Nintendo fans if Mario came to other consoles. Crash is just such a PS icon to me.
I very curious, what type of game would it be?
Awesome. A well-done CTR remake would be huge on PS4 imo (there's a big gap in the market for a good kart racer on the console).
I'd love a new Crash game in the same style as the original trilogy though. Keep the gimmicks to a healthy minimum and just give us some more Bandicoot platforming goodness.
It needs to be a 10 year plan and there needs to be loot crates or it isn't really an Activision game.
@LordBeerus Sorry if I didn't offer pudding, but Crash has been multiplatform since Wrath of Cortex. I do agree I like playing them on Playstation though.
@JLPick My guess is platformers don't sell on Xbox, that probably explains why we haven't seen Conker or Banjo in years.
Something to keep an eye out for I suppose. Crash hasn’t been the same since making the jump to PS2/GC/Xbox era. If it’s a new game I hope it turns out alright.
A new game might be brilliant, but I'll not get too optimistic until we know if it's any good.
I'm down as long as it's a full game without microtransactions BS.
@AFCC Why? I'm actually excited because IF this is true, I can play it on my Switch ( of course Xbox fans will be left out of the equation which is rightfully so cus Xbox sucks).
Sigh, it's awful that Crash Bandicoot will be available on another platforms, but the ip belongs to Activision now, nothing we can do.
What really pisses me off is when Sony releases a game on PC as well, there is no excuse for that.
Edit: Naughty Dog still owned the original trilogy before this announcement, looks like Sony did a terrible deal by allowing these games being remastered for another platforms. Yes, Crash Bandicoot is owned by Activision now, but they remastered three games that belonged to Sony.
@waluigifan1 Yes sir, I know it’s been multiplatform for some time now. But growing up with the original trilogy & CTR on the PS1....to me Crash is & will always be remembered imo as a PlayStation icon. Basically I’m saying I wish Crash would have never went multiplatform & just stayed PS exclusive forever. Now don’t even think of speaking to your God of Destruction ever again unless you bring pudding.
@Slasher It's like seeing Master Chief on PS. No please
So a Temple Run-esque Crash mobile game is a given now, right?
I'm currently playing the trilogy right now (just about finishing number 2). Whilst I think this is great news, we have to remember Naughty Dog developed the first 3 games and Activision/Vicarious just remastered/remade them. Whether they can design a Crash game from scratch that is as fun and well designed as the originals we'll have to wait and see. Plus I hope they make the controls feel better. I only recently played the original game on a PS1 (original hardware, not emulated) and the trilogy on PS4 definitely doesn't control as nicely. It's hard to say what it is. It just feels stiffer and less responsive, but I got used to it eventually.
More like - "Activision has five year plan for ruining platforming icon" :-/ Just do Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash PLZZZZZZZZ
If true I’ll prob get the “Vita” ver of the Crash Trilogy
Would’ve gotten the PS4 ver but... was busy & working on muh backlog...
Make a new, good game please. And I dont mind it being on other platforms.
Well, I for one would love a new Crash Bandicoot game.
I don't know what the big hubbub is about Crash being on other platforms. It already happened years ago with 2001's Wrath of Cortex and continued until the series went dormant. Yeah, the games didn't reach the heights of the PS1 titles, but that was due to the revolving door of development teams and executive crap rather than not being exclusive to PlayStation. I understand if people don't want any of that happening again, but I'm not seeing any of that sentiment here.
I'll save my complaints for when Crash is exclusive to another system for no real reason.
Seeing how the altered jump timing and weird hitboxes in Nsane Trilogy were JUST off enough to spoil the entire experience for me, I don't know if I want them to remake CTR...
Omg Ctr woulf make my day , for realzies
Never thought I’d see the day when the Xbox One gets the Wii U treatment when it comes to a multi platform title.
One of Sonys errors was to not buy Crash out right they could have stored him away and then did the same with trilogy and a new game 2019
I sense another Crash for Crash incoming, because it's what happened all those years ago.
I'm not sorry.
Crash on Switch will be cool!!
