Announced for a Western release earlier in the week, Shining Resonance Refrain is hitting PlayStation 4 this summer. Fortunately, if that confirmation got you hyped, then you'll be pleased to hear that SEGA streamed an hour's worth of gameplay during its latest broadcast. You can find the footage above, starting at around the 1 hour and 4 minute mark.
Now we're not gonna lie -- we reckon the game's looking a bit generic. But hey, let's not judge a book by its cover. We're hoping for an engaging story bolstered by colourful characters. Pile an addictive action battle system on top of that and we can easily look past the visuals.
As a side note, the stream confirms that the title will feature both English and Japanese audio, which is always nice.

JRPGs used to be my fave genre many many moons ago but nowadays I think most of them look super generic. I still love a good turn based/tactical JRPG but I much prefer the Western ARPGs of today.
When's Granblue Fantasy getting localized?
Please please please change the gameplay slightly so it plays more like Shining Force 2
Really don't know about this , I will pick it up at some point. But apart from the likes of persona 5 etc the jrpgs of today are not on the same level as those from the days of snes,PS1 and PS2 , hell a lot seem less advance and uninspired.
I'll prb get this eventually my backlog is huge right now
Aaaaaand... pass.
I hate action rpg systems with AI companions. Always feels like the game is playing itself. Or like I should be playing an MMO with real people rather than a shabby imitation.
Not for me.
@Callmegil Now THATS what I want to see more of.
@NoxAeturnus so much this. I like my Action RPG’s, but for God’s sake let ME handle the enemies.
Never understood what good it does to have companions: to me it looks as though they just multiply both the characters and the enemies by 4, and nothing else changes. I mean, I’m still controlling one character and fighting one enemy at a time.
