Demon's Souls PS4 PlayStation 4 1

With a Dark Souls remaster due out later this year and Demon’s Souls’ servers about to be disabled, fans are getting together to demonstrate there’s demand for a remaster of the classic PlayStation 3 exclusive. We’ve seen similar campaigns for both Crash Bandicoot and MediEvil gain traction, so the hope is that the bigwigs at Sony will be watching this one, too.

Of course, the situation is complicated. Sony helped From Software develop the game and acted as its publisher in Japan, but it famously opted against releasing the project in Western territories. The title was eventually licensed and localised by Atlus in North America, with Bandai Namco also picking up the product and publishing it in Europe. Whether or not that would affect a remaster remains to be seen.

Some hope that, following on from Shadow of the Colossus, the platform holder may employ Bluepoint to build a full remake of the original, complete with new-gen assets et al. That seems a bit hopeful in our opinion, but you never know. Either way, you can find out more about the campaign to save Demon’s Souls via its Twitter account through here.
