Monster Hunter World PS4 PlayStation 4 1

WAYP is a little late as we catch up on some of the headlines from PSX 2017, but we’re continuing our record of never missing a week with a bumper edition of our recurring Talking Point today. There’s no time for long introductions as there’s much work to do, but you all know the drill by now.

It’s a low-key PlayStation Experience this year but it still seems like there’s going to be enough going on to keep me occupied all weekend. My only hope is that I have enough free time to play a few hours of the Monster Hunter: World beta, which is currently one of my most anticipated games.

If all goes to plan I'll be running through some of Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris with friends. It's safe to say that I don't think much of the expansion, but as always, Bungie's shooter is at its best when you're teamed up and popping heads with others. Oh, and obviously I'll be absolutely hammering the Monster Hunter: World beta. Can't wait to finally have a go.

With the Monster Hunter: World beta going live over the weekend, I’ll be making sure to check out this promising new entry in the long-running series as soon as it goes live on Saturday. I always thought Monster Hunter’s been held back from wider popularity in the past, due to the fiddly controls found in the plethora of handhelds entries over the years. So, you’ll find me taking a break from my daily dose of SMITE, and Rainbow Six: Siege, in order to swing massive swords at all manner of beasties this weekend.

Powered through Wolfenstein II this week and somehow managed to complete the campaign before my deadlines. It’s a super fun and super messy FPS that doesn’t take itself too seriously; I loved it. Alongside that, I finished Episode 3 of Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within this week which was long overdue. Selina and Bruce are my modern day muse (so eat your heart out Shakespeare). I’ll keep shippin’ those two ‘til the day I die I swear.

I've almost caught up on my Steam backlog with just one more title between myself and Gorogoa when it launches next week. And I grabbed the new Life Is Strange on my PS4 from the Game Awards sale, so I'll have plenty on my plate for the coming days

I'm going to give Call of Duty: WWII a go this weekend with its Winter Siege content. Four new weapons and a reworked map for free? That ain't half bad. And since I'm unexpectedly snowed in, I'm going to chill a bit by finishing Night in the Woods and finally getting to my Kickstarter copy of Yooka-Laylee. Yeah, I take my time with these things.

I've finally gotten around to playing Yakuza Kiwami thanks to the current lull in game releases. Besides that, I'll be finishing off Gears of War 4 on the err... Other console! [Traitor! – Ed]

I should have a pretty packed weekend, what with playing LocoRoco 2 Remastered for review and the Monster Hunter: World beta test going live later today. I'm also still steadily playing through the tranquil farming sim Stardew Valley, which I've really taken to. I'm a little late to the party, but at least now I can appreciate why everyone fell in love with it last year.

With the Winter Siege event going on in Call of Duty: WWII I will be busy with that all weekend.  Maybe if I have time I might squeeze in some Chrono Trigger on the SNES.
