The initial response to Destiny 2's upcoming Curse of Osiris DLC hasn't exactly been glowing, and with the recent revelations of experience tampering and endgame loot problems, things have gone from bad to worse for Bungie.
With the first Destiny 2 expansion only a week away, Bungie had planned on conducting a final livestream tomorrow to show off some of the new weapons and armour, but that has now been cancelled. Instead, the developer will issue a statement that assesses the game in its current form, along with how things will change going forward.
"We are investing all our efforts into delivering some higher priority information about Destiny 2. You’ll hear from studio leadership about their assessment of Destiny all up, they’ll talk about our goals for the game going forward, and you’ll also learn about how we’re reacting to your feedback with some game updates that will arrive in the next few weeks."

RIPtinys
The pressure must be on for Bungie to do this. That and the fact that showing off DLC while everyone is fuming doesn't seem like the best idea in the world.
WTF?
@get2sammyb The negativity has really spiralled out of control over the last week or so, to the point where avid Destiny-only streamers and YouTubers (some of them people who have actually relied on the game as a source of income) have started playing other things.
It's gone properly mad, and with the whole Battlefront 2 thing coming to a head recently as well, I think there's this general sense that with enough pressure, things can change. It's fascinating, really.
@ShogunRok These sub-pockets of the gaming community never cease to amaze me. I knew people were disappointed with the new DLC and the game in general, but I didn't know it had spiralled this much.
Dunno who's worse people moaning about the game now or the people who bought the game in the first place tbh.
@ShogunRok @get2sammyb when you dont believe in what your playing as an algorithm is strangling a variable in the background. You stop playing.
Exactly the same when you watch the olympics and the first thought is if the athlete is on steroids. You lose interest.
@themcnoisy I guess, but this seems to be a unique challenge for a very specific type of game. Like, I beat Assassin's Creed recently, had a great time, and now I'm done until the DLC comes out.
I personally still struggle to wrap my head around these types of games that you're supposed to play forever. I think my mindset is quite old-school, though.
Destiny 2 is downright beautiful with fantastic music but it didn't seem to carry anything over from Destiny 1 that made it fun to play for MONTHS. It's like they took all the lessons learned from D1 and tossed them out the window.
Negativity spiralled out of control on the internet? Shocking...
Yes I'll trade you my tokens for something I already had 5 years ago along with some rubbish looking armor
@get2sammyb the whole point in Destiny is that the game is supposed to begin after the campaign, and yeah, the community is toxic towards bungie right now, the end game is non existent
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Sure, I get the concept, I just don't really understand the appeal of it personally. But whatever.
It's a real shame as it's a good game which has the potential to be great. There have been some shady practices attached to Destiny 2, and whether this was Activision or BUNGIE behind it, it shouldn't have happened. I wouldn't say that it merits this level of hostility, but with the shadow of SWBF2 looming over every title it seems as though any grievance will be inflated somewhat.
It sucks, but I really hope BUNGIE can get a handle on things and turn it around, as I really like Destiny!
Were 'Chuck and Nancy' hosting the Livestream? 😉
It had almost looked like, in the beginning, that they had learned enough from D1 to make D2 the better game. It turns out they just found different ways to screw things up. I'm ready for "games a service" to die at this point.
People ate doritos for experience boosts of course they are upset.
@get2sammyb
I get what you're saying about these longevity games, but if you look at games like FF XIV, they're quite doable. Granted, I played for 6 months and decided that the farming to craft to level up gear wasn't my bag...and the market wasn't either...but that game has so much content now. Honestly, just starting out, I'd be overwhelmed. Add in the subscription...
I like Destiny 2. I'll jump on, complete the public events, get my Crucible duties in, max the clan XP out, and maybe do a strike or two. This is over a week's time.
The real problem with Destiny 2 is it's the same as Destiny. Different locations. Same game.
And where the hell is Sparrow Racing???
Would have been great if bungie had used a borderlands style loot system...I've always imagined destiny as an mmo(raids should have a instance style system or join a queue of randoms type thing, yes people could quit halfway through but that's is really not a big deal, someone would always fill the vacant slot) I don't understand what it is that seems to be holding bungie back(could be activision) as they obviously have the money and talent, or money to recruit talent to make destiny a fully open world/mmo type game that could be fantastic...or maybe gearbox will get there first if they use the border worlds name they trade marked a few years ago and borderlands 3 becomes what destiny should be
destiny one burnt me with all the promises of open world and crap last time so i didnt bother with this I voted with my feet...
Battlefront 1 I bought digital and got burnt with the crap they released last time so i didnt bother with Battlefront 2...
once bitten...
Well I am so glad I just bought this in the sales.
@get2sammyb I am off the same old school mindset in that I finish games and move on but too many people have got on at me to join in so will give it a whirl. To be honest, I only got interested once I realised I could create a clan with my mates and name it 'Clan Chowder'. If I can't do this, it is game over.
What has become apparent to me and a lot of gamers, particularly in MP games is that publishers are doing some very shady things around grinding and one can't help but feel it is to drive people to buy their way out of it. For a game designed around grinding, D2 and Bungie (by that I mean ACtivision) have really been caught with their pants down.
I applaud this. Consumers start to take their power. Now for the taxpayers...
@Hapuc let's be clear here, destiny 2 isn't a game it's a service.
New legends may rise but nothing about this series is legendary unfortunately.
Who knows, maybe they'll fix all the current problems when the third expansion releases.
@get2sammyb year 3 destiny one is a lot of fun, if you can join an active destiny one clan and do some raids amongst the tons of other stuff
So.... I guess Amazon picked a bad day to make this game deal of the day huh?

@get2sammyb Hey, it's on topic.
@get2sammyb I get where your coming from, but the thing that makes me keep coming back to Destiny is it's just a great pick up and play game, just like turning on the console for a game or two of FIFA, I can just crack on with a couple of strikes or crucible matches. These days I find it much harder to finish single player games because i feel like jumping on for just a half hour-hour isn't worth it.
To me, I fear that this might become like what happened with Destiny 1's expansions. Where since the first DLC was poorly received and the second DLC was mediocre, they had to make two more expansions that weren't included in the season pass just to see if this could fix the game's problems.
Maybe it could be like Dark Souls 3's 2 DLCs where the first one was mediocre and the second one was much better.
