Brrrr, it’s getting chilly in here. PlayStation Japan has prematurely released a new trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn’s first major add-on pack, The Frozen Wilds. The clip doesn’t show any real action, instead focusing on the icy locales that Aloy’s post-release adventure will focus on.
With the DLC due out in less than a month, we suspect that this will mark the beginning of Sony’s promotional campaign for the expansion, which is sounding like a meaty slice of extra content. We’re really looking forward to this one – are you?

Finish the game in new game plus ultrahard difficulty im set and ready.
Have this on digital preorder..very unusual for me but I absolutely cannot wait to get back to this amazing game!
Looking forward to it!
GOTY without a doubt. 😀 😁 😊
@rjejr Send them a email maybe they fix it or get glasses. 😀 😁 😉
Talking about the locations I'd say that Devil's Thirst and the areas north (desert) and especially south (jungle) of Meridia were excellent. But frozen mountains... well, everything was too fantasy-like for me...
@rjejr

The GOTY is about to get better.
@rjejr I never called you old
Someday I will start the main game I swear. So I wont touch this one yet.
@rjejr
Even indirectly, you are always derailing threads.
The game is utterly amazing I was explaining to mcnoisy last night just how good it is I cant believe for a second he has it on his shelf and not played it
Definitely getting this addon day one
@rejr erm no the witcher 3 is a plague on gaming now as every person wants to use the witcher 3 as the gold standard and IMHO Horizon absolutely obliterates the witcher 3, its that good you had CDPR congratulating Guerrilla about 2 days after release saying a masterpiece, I really enjoyed watching the interview with the guerrilla dev and the dev from CDPR
Can't wait. Love Aloy.
I've not got my copy and more long story. Anyone know if this'll be standalone? I've still got the save and disk install on the hard drive just not the disc.
I was forgetting about this, but I've got the DLC preordered already. Exploring the new frozen landscape is going to be sweet.
Day one! Horizon Zero Dawn is my game of the generation.
PS Plus has it on sale here in the U.S.
@rjejr What did you do?
@Octane his account doesn't exist anymore?!?!
I'll be buying the game of the year edition when it comes out so I can experience the whole lot in one go.
@Kidfried His account still exists, his comments however don't...
Never finished the main campaign. Visually amazing, but ultimately it just became way too repetitive, so I think I'll give this a miss.
@PaperyWhiteBoy I generally agree, it ran out of steam after 30 hours. The fun combat was the only thing carrying it for me by that point. It cant really be understated how good the combat system in Horizon is to be fair. I think a better loot and upgrade system might have helped keep the game overall.
@kyleforrester87 Agreed. The combat was great, cant argue there. The first time you fight the T-rex-esque machine (can't remember its name) was properly exhilarating, but I think it was about 30 hours in I bailed as well. Just too many cut and paste side quests and not particularly interesting characters or plot-points wore me down in the end. By contrast (and apologies for using the N-word here) Nintendo just barn-stormed with Zelda, which I'm currently 95+ hours into and shows no sign of flagging in any regard.
@kyleforrester87 I managed to put around 80 hours into it, and I finished everything. But I do agree, the combat is solid, but I would love to see a little more variety in weapons, better rewards, etc. I hope they can fix that in the inevitable sequel (or this DLC even). Maybe add in a little more interaction with the environment too, many times I thought a surface or structure was climbable, but it acted like a solid wall.
Got bored of this game after about 20 hours, I really wanted to like this but just couldn't. It looks brilliant and plays brilliant but just felt meh to me.
@Octane @kyleforrester87 - i think a sequel could offer co-op like missions with the opportunities to earn unique rewards/weapons. something like destiny's strike/nightfall missions perhaps - i know it's mainly designed as a single player game and about aloy's story, but personally i think the hunter's lodge would offer the potential as some kind of social space in order to tackle co-op style hunts. after all, there's the side quest where you have to hunt the red maw and are accompanied by an AI controlled character. why not have similar quests/missions but with some companions that are human controlled?. could offer some very interesting multi-attack combat scenarios in my opinion if they had unique machines to hunt in these missions. that sounds like a monster hunter meets destiny rip-off i know, but would it matter with a great environment and great combat? i platinumed horizon on 2 different accounts, didn't get bored at all.. but there's little incentive to keep playing after getting the virtual shiny trinket.
@leucocyte Yeah, maybe. I mean, it would be an extra mode and I would prefer to see improvements in other areas first, but I'm definitely not against it!
@PaperyWhiteBoy @kyleforrester87 I agree the side quests and such were not all that engaging and taking out bandit camps could've been more challenging, but the story did grab me enough I wanted to finish it--and I did!
Yes, a better loot/weapon/skill tree system would have enhanced the game more and made NG+ more inviting, Bloodborne-esque style. More incentive to do more side quests, even for cosmetic items would have been fun. I'm looking forward to the DLC and see what enhancements they've come up with. I think this IP has huge potential for future games. Fighting giant robot dinos just doesn't get old with their battle mechanics.
@starhops I did finish it but the magic was over for me by that point. I do struggle to stay invested in these large openworld RPGs though so it's more my issue than the games. I think a leaf out of Zeldas book would help, minimal guidance and way points etc so finding secrets feels genuinely exciting, instead of just ticking boxes.
Aloy needs a shout out too. She's really cool, way better than Drake and the rest of the Uncharted lot in my opinion.
Cannot wait but I am really disappointed that there isn't a physical copy available.

@Octane
I really don't want to buy the first game again though squire......looks like I will have to make do with a download this time around.
Thanks anyway chief.
@Lovespuds As much as I love physical media too, I don't think we can expect a disc for every DLC. And frankly, I'm fine with digital for DLC.
@Octane
Yeah, I guess you are right matey, it's gonna be a cracking release no matter the medium. I am hoping it's big enough to justify another platinum trophy, the trophy list for Horizon was really fun.
Have a great weekend squire, just wrapped up Wolfy: The Old Blood ready for Wolfenstein 2....hard too keep up with all these amazing games but what a great problem to have 😀
