Officially revealed yesterday during Sony's Paris Games Week 2017 press conference, Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris is the game's first expansion, and it's set to launch on the 5th December. Naturally, as per Activision's marketing deal with Sony, the add-on will feature PlayStation exclusive content on release. In this case, PlayStation 4 players can look forward to an exclusive Crucible map.
Said map is set within Titan's New Pacific Arcology -- one of the sequel's more interesting locations, full of wild plant life and old, barely functioning technology.
What are your thoughts on timed exclusive content like this? Do you care? Run and gun in the comments section below.

As long as all of the exclusive content is on playstation there isnt an issue.
I am NOT a fan of 'exclusive' content in ANY multi-platform game. Whilst investors like Sony/MS may want to get 'something' for their money, understandably, I really do think that if Exclusive extras are to be given, that at most, you only get a max of 2weeks timed exclusivity on content - especially as ALL gamers have to pay the same for it. I would rather see Destiny 2 expansion released a week early for PS4 owners than get extra content for a minimum of a year!
@themcnoisy - that is something I would expect a typical fanboy to say - not you. This may benefit you in this instance but what if the next 'big' game - like Anthem for example - had extra content for a year or more on Xbox, Some of the best 'weapons, gear etc' in the game, as well as 'exclusive' Maps, missions etc for a whole year yet still charged PS4 gamers the same for less content - no guarantee that the 'extra' content will come after a year either?
Its bad practice for any company/game. Like I said this may benefit you in this instance; but you could be on the wrong side in the future. Would you be so flippant then?
I expected more from a gamer to be honest.
Listen dude step down from the soapbox. Were not asking for exclusive content, but were happy not to miss out. If the consoles want it or if the publisher wants to ransom it then thats their right.
@BAMozzy I hope Anthem gets xbox exclusive content as its EA they arent getting another penny from me anyway.
Your right though bro and it does suck if your on the wrong side of the fence.
@themcnoisy But from what I've heard, Activision isn't any better than EA, though. :/
@WanderingBullet EA have been the most aggresive with pay to win mechanics in games that have ruined my enjoyment. I dont trust them at all. Thats why ive boycotted them.
@themcnoisy Ah, I see...
@themcnoisy As you know me, I wouldn't defend MS either if they did something like this 'regardless' of whether its EA, Activision, Ubisoft etc. Its not fair on gamers at all. I would be exactly the same if Anthem did a 'Destiny' for Xbox users too.
If I remember rightly, Street Fighter 4 came with 'exclusive' characters but each console had their 'own' exclusive character. That to me is OK - not ideal and suitable for ALL types of game, but its still bordering on 'unfair'. As you know, I have both a PS4 and XB1 so can take advantage of these deals. However as someone with 'both' I also don't like being pressurised into buying the game on a specific console or 'miss out'.
Exclusive games should be enough without exclusive content on specific devices for multi-platform games. Its not just 'Xbox' gamers in this instance but PC gamers too. All it does is drive more wedges between the player base and 'gamers' in general. At most, a 2week limit should be imposed although I still think NO multi-platform game should have different content. A 2week limit is still pushing it as far as I am concerned but at least everyone will end up the same after that 'short' delay. A month is a long time in gaming and a year is just ridiculous.
I don't boycott any publisher and don't see why my gaming has to be compromised because of stupid decisions. I agree that EA seem to be the most aggressive at the moment and generally the worst publisher but I won't let that impact on me. If it ends up ruining my enjoyment, then I will stop playing that game. Its mostly MP that affects and if the numbers 'drop off' quickly, then it ruins the game for those that 'spend' money on these too - maybe making them think twice in the future. I can still enjoy these games 'offline' and the story/campaign too. I also will be more inclined to wait until the price drops significantly so not only do I still get to play and enjoy (albeit late to the party), my contribution to the profits is significantly lower - maybe not as significant as boycotting entirely. Another option would be to buy 2nd hand. Something I 'never' do - or haven't for at least 10yrs (more like 15-20yrs). That way I still get my 'enjoyment' without giving ANY profit to the publisher/devs. To me that's better than boycotting - to me boycotting is cutting your nose off to spite your face.
@BAMozzy going a bit overboard on @themcnoisy aren’t you? I took his comment with the sarcastic, hunerous tone that I believe was intended. I expect a gamer not to be so judgmental. Exclusivity drives console sales, if you were on Sony’s board of directors, you’d be wanting all the exclusives you could pay for. Nature of the business at this point and all sides do it.
@BAMozzy "If I remember rightly, Street Fighter 4 came with 'exclusive' characters but each console had their 'own' exclusive character."
Nearly, that game was the awesome Soul Calibur 2.
@themcnoisy I know it was some fighting game but as I don't play them, I couldn't remember which it was. Thanks
destiny 2's crucible sucks, so it's no big deal anyway.
I have that sinking feeling about the Destiny 2 DLC. I forsee that they won't address any of the actual issues with the game, and will simply add more cosmetic guns and armour, with a little bit more storyline.
Im sorry guys but MS and EA have been at this for absolutely years and it stank Activision and MS did it for yonks with COD and it used to drive everyone potty on PS but now the shoe is on the other foot who cars I dont actually care any more if its exclusive or not if its exclusive then its a permenant exclusive and that puts the entire argument to bed if not make it exclusive for 4 weeks then every platform is on a level playing field.
