Fortnite has struck gold with this Battle Royale stuff. The multiplayer mode was introduced just a couple of weeks ago, and it's free to download and play on PlayStation 4. It takes more than a few cues from the stupidly popular PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, but with Microsoft calling console exclusivity on that one, Fortnite developer Epic Games has been quick to take advantage -- and boy has the gamble paid off.
The studio reports that Battle Royale has hit a very impressive ten million players. It's safe to say that it's been a success, then, but we're interested in seeing how Epic attempts to keep this momentum going.

😂 PUBG and Xbox. Wasted money and lost customers. Lesson learned.
I've played it and enjoyed it. The game seems to play out rather quickly...15 minute rounds appears to be an average length per round. Pretty accessible too.
As Bigweld said, "See a need, fill a need." With Bluehole giving timed exclusivity to Microsoft, that's exactly what Epic has done. Alienating 60+ million console owners isn't the brightest market strategy for a developer. Happy that Epic recognizes this.
Just goes to show there's a lot of people out there wanting to try out a battle Royale game, and having one free to play on 3 different platforms certainly helps. Not sure what exactly Epic is gaining out of it considering it is free to play...sounds like loot boxes will be added soon!
Can someone talk about how they have yet to monetize Fortnite in any way (cosmetic loot crates?)? Is this not strange???
I'll stick with PUBG. This game looks decent for a free game, though.
Totally forgot about this. Maybe I should try it. Wanted to play Overwatch yesterday and got hit by another update.
Does it have a seperate trophy list?
@Lonejester While I don't know about this game mode for Fortnite, the main game is drowning in pinatas (lootboxes) which are linked to progressing. If this is successful and brought to the main game expect it to follow a similar path.
@Lonejester Plus, you pay for early access for the regular game. I like Fortnite and the new Horde mode is really fun.
I played a round and had fun but then I could never connect, so I deleted it. Maybe I should give it another shot.
Kinda puts salt on Bluehole right now, they could potentially double their players which right now is Steam's no.1 player count.
I think it is coming out on PS4 some time after the Xbox release but Microsoft would want to hold on the "Console Exclusive" title for the game a bit long
Downloaded it Friday but working weekend shifts means I can’t wait till tonight so I can have a Good play! Player Battlegrounds made a massive mistake letting Microsoft have it for them but is a pity as I must say it looks good but being a PS4 Pro console player I won’t be playing it anytime soon by the looks of it! Just hope this is Good then watched some YouTube and does look interesting
