Wow, who saw this one coming? At a recent PAX West panel, Gearbox CEO and industry gobsh*te Randy Pitchford told the audience that 90 per cent of the studio is currently "working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on". Obviously, that's a Borderlands 3 tease -- unless the developer is so misguided that it thinks people are desperate for a Battleborn sequel.
Borderlands 2 first hit the PlayStation 3 back in 2012, so a full follow-up is well past due. We have to imagine that it won't be too long until the game is officially revealed, probably off the back of a hilariously unfunny trailer.
But don't let our cynicism get you down -- are you looking forward to the inevitable Borderlands 3? Find a favourite gun in the comments section below.

Goody gumdrops. I do enjoy a Borderlands adventure. They're a bunch of fun to play with someone else in co-op. And I can't imagine there's many people clamouring for Battleborn 2. There wasn't anybody clamouring for the first one.
Well it's not like they make any other games people want to buy. That aside, the Borderland games were amongst my favourites on the PS3, particularly the second one and Handsome Jack is still amongst the best protagonists in video games history
About time.
This is clearly Colonial Marines 2 and not Borderlands 3.
They basically confirmed it with a 'tech demo' at GDC 2017. Just search youtube for 'Borderlands 3 tech demo' IGN also include 'Unreal Engine 4' in their Video title for this.
It was a surprise omission from E3 and Gamescom, especially after the Tech Demo at GDC but then again, if its like the predecessors, its likely to be 'big' game and maybe they are not yet ready to reveal anything. They were quite careful not to reveal any characters - at least not clearly anyway. No doubt a project like this takes a lot of time and we don't know how far into development they were at with the tech demo so could be a while before we get any reveal of the actual game rather than a few of the assets being used t show off the engine.
Put a tonne of hours into the 2nd one in the HC these past few months. Epic games. So much to do and the dlc has always been fun too. Trying to platinum the 2nd then I'll crack on with the PS.
I never did finish the second Borderlands, I always grew tired of it around the same place each time I've played it. It's strange because I really loved the first game, even platinumed it.
Brothers in Arms maybe?
Well, I'm awake and listening. Destiny 2 can now officially go jump in a lake.
Please don't screw this up
Please don't screw this up
Please don't screw this up
I repeat this mantra every time I see a franchise I love prepare for it's third game.
Yes please or should I say about time loli
Pls pls don't make it as trashy as the pre-sequel. I loved the first one and one protagonist, Jack, in borderlands 2 doing trash talk was okayish but borderlands pre-sequel went OTT. If they plan to up the stakes in foul mouth humour gimme a filter profanity so I can blast nmes without hearing it pls. Else happy to avoid this and spend my pounds elsewhere!
Really hyped for this one. Borderlands is one of my favorite new IPS from last gen. I still regularly play BL2 on the PS4 and it's one of the games my son and I like to play together. We are currently playing through UVHM with Krieg and Gaige.

Woohoo
Lets create a list of internet memes and movie references that will be in borderlands 3.

Boarderlands is a much better version of Destiny, can't wait for this.
Borderlands was a pleasant surprise and then BL2 was so much better in many ways. How good then can BL3 be? Will i spend hundreds of hours of my life doing everything possible, farm for a particular weapon and then hope it does not get nerfed, and will i get all little kid happy when new shift codes are released?
Looking forward to Borderlands 3 but at the same time I kinda want Gearbox to change the art direction for the third one. I doubt it'll happen though since art style looked pretty much the same during the tech demo they showed a few months ago.
Lol calling Randy a Gobshi** and I've always called Randy Pitchfork because he stabs people in the back like he did SEGA with Aliens CM
@RedMageLanakyn Ah, good old BioWare Syndrome I think that's called.
I just want Borderlands 3 so Telltale can finally be allowed to make Tales From the Borderlands 2
Yes totally hyped for bl3, hope they do change the settings slightly from bl2/2.5. Maybe a new planet with new vaults. I find that i enjoyed the guns of bl 1 more than 2/2.5, having said that i actually haven't completed bl2.5 yet.... em backlogs....
Anyone looking to replaying Bl3, with an old character, they have 4 from bl1, 6 from bl2 and 6 from 2.5. That's 16 characters.... Gearbox should release a dlc in bl3 that includes all 16 characters, for an arena shooter type event...
@ApostateMage Bioware was definitely the first that came to mind. Also movies, as the third in a series is usually a dud. There are some exceptions, like Witcher 3, but the direction it looked like they were heading at the end of BL2 seems like an impossible task to live up to. I'm holding out hope though.
Looking forward to this, despite the occasionally grating humour. They need to poach themselves some Telltale staff and stick them on writing duties!
