In case you missed the news last month, Destiny 2 is getting its very own limited edition DualShock 4, and it's not exactly a looker. Ugly controllers seem to be all the rage over at Sony headquarters, though, as the company's pumping out another dreadful looking pad in Europe.
Tied into PlayStation's marketing deal with the UEFA Champions League, laying your eyes on the PlayStation F.C DualShock 4 is like watching your favourite team slam the ball into the back of their own net. Much like the aforementioned Destiny 2 themed controller, there's way too much going on here. Take that mad squiggly thing off the left grip for a start.
Look, we're all for custom pads, but surely we can do better than this?

What was wrong with simple colours.
And what the hell IS that squiggly thing?
You know without the touchpad if there was just some space up there the decal probably wouldnt look awful.
I think its ok just nothing special. The squiggly thing is just tactics to show the players how they should play but with the buttons as players kinda funny.
@Comrade44 Agreed just nothing really special.
Yeah these are seriously amateur hour — they're honestly bordering on embarrassing. Much like the Destiny 2 one, though, I think it would be passable if they just included the emblem on the right handle.
Looks like a £3.99 + £20 postage fees amateur skin from some dodgy company on Ebay.
@gmxs Perfect.
@get2sammyb Whats sad is that blue controller is dope.
And then they ruined it. Been considering blue as my replacement one.
Its like a no debate thing. There is different colours, patterned, and then just bad.
I think the DS4 really lacks the real estate for proper customisation without changing the shell colour entirely
@BLP_Software You can get the blue (or a similar shade anyway) without all the crap on it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStation-DualShock-Controller-Blue/dp/B01MA5AVXM/
Lol. Its not as bad as the destiny one. But it is close. It makes the xbox controller lab seem like a brill idea in comparison (and I rarely praise xbox)!
I think the 'hand grips' are fine, but the goal area touch pad? What!!?
Tbh though, im quite happy with my original black pad - though the red controller has been tempting me for months.
@get2sammyb yeah ots on my wish list
I love football, to the point that i write about it, yet this.. is... just...horrid
Just give me 20th anniversary dualshock 4 with ps3 battery endurance sony.
Looks pretty cool to be honest, shame you won't be able to get one in the U of K
Nope. Do not like this at all. In fact, I find all the "PlayStation FC" stuff to not look good at all
What a joke, should've been rocket league
Some of the comments are bizarre, even a person with poor taste and an unhealthy love for cheap Uefa merchandise should be able to see this looks like crap.
Just looks like someone scribbled on it.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi there is also that new thing called "different taste"...probably haven't reached stores in your town yet
To me, its hardly a custom one, not by some standards. Its just a 'blue' controller with some white stickers on it.
Personally, I like the 'custom' controllers that are 'uniquely' different from the norm and I don't mean the addition of a sticker or 3 or just a unique colour. Good examples are the Gears 4 custom controllers on the Xbox One - both the Elite and standard had laser etching into their shell (to represent claw marks).
If this had a unique rubberised grip (in a 'football' pattern) or etched in pattern/logo's on the grips - maybe even a football pattern on the top of the thumb grips too, something to really set it apart from the 'standard', I would be more interested but I would certainly not buy this - no doubt it will cost more too because of this....
@fisher yeah, we call it poor taste
If it was actually a footballer it would be William Prunier. Or Jason Lee
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi nah
I like the controller. Anyway you fail to mention in your article a crucial piece of information which makes this irrelevant to a majority of your readers. Its not available in the UK.
Glad its in blue not that awful red colour or I would not be touching it with a barge pole.
@BowTiesAreCool totally agree
Microsoft does a better job ith its Xbox One controllers
Damn thats fugly. Sony please fire the people that design these monstrosities.
The color is beautiful, the football graphics just embarrissing
Four-four-puke! Sorry, it is not that bad but it just looks tacky to me.
has long as all the buttons work at the end of the day its a contoller nothink more
Could we not have the news without bias added to it?
