Middle-earth: Shadow of War is due out on PlayStation 4 this October, which gives newcomers more than enough time to jump into the previous game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and see what all the fuss is about. Aside from catching up with the story, there's now another reason to play the original release thanks to the title's most recent update.
Basically, the game's new patch grants players the ability to select two ugly generals from their save data and import them into Shadow of War. If you've got a particularly memorable rival or allied commander, then they'll show up in the sequel, which is pretty cool. You can get the details from the video that we've embedded above.

This feature is exactly what Tolkien would have dreamed of when he was writing these books.
Just recently brought the game i guess its time to play it
Tempted but I platinumed it and then sold it, liked it but thought no real reason to jump back in. So I'll just wait until the new one unless I see this one have a really cheap sale, wouldn't mind chopping some more orc head's off tbh.
@ShogunRok
ME:SoM is currently on sale in NA (well US at least) for another 48 hours (give or take) for only $3.99 for the GOTY edition.

Oh, and here's the link for TLoU:LBSA DLC since I'm about to purchase that for $3.99 as well, since, ya know, I need to put $5 on my CC anyway.

EDIT: Just for honesty, I bought a $10 PSN code on Amazon for $9.99 which I used to buy the games, so I now have $2.03 in my wallet, didn't use my CC. FYI I had $20 of Amazon credit from things this weekend so it's almost like getting the games for free.
FYI2 - If you buy a digital PSN code on Amazon the email from Amazon includes a link that takes you right to your PSN account and populates the "Insert Code Here" box w/ the code, all I had to do was "click". Very seamless.
FYI3 - Even better, no tax on either side, Amazon or PSN - I'm in New York, seems like we usually pay tax on everything. I paid Amazon $1.72 tax for my digital code $19.99 Zelda U Expansion Pass just last week. And I know I pay tax on my Wii U eShop purchases. Don't have a Switch yet.
This is about a good excuse as any to replay this absolute gem of a game!
@PostmanPatinator 3,99 on the store in the US till tuesday.
Does the save file include the GotY edition or are they the same as the original release?
Just picked up the GotY edition today so it's good news for me. I've been told that this game is awesome.
I liked the game, got the Plat and played most of the DLC but I can't remember anything about my generals or Orcs other then a) they were faux cockney and b) took me fecking ages to get them to the top of the tree.
I'll have to try this Nemesis Forge thing.
I wonder what'll happen, seeing as I have no Nemesis orcs anywhere, killed them all.
I only have branded orcs filling up every slot in the army in both territories, and they're all at max level and the coolest, biggest orcs I could find too... It took a lot of effort to raise them all to max level and to kill all the short-slim-weak-looking ones and replace them with better ones... I was so proud of my two armies of max-level badass orcs, but it seems I may have made a mistake...
I'll try it later, I think it's interesting, but I don't like that the game chooses for you, I would rather choose myself... My orcs are all cool but I have my favorites
awesome eh constable
lol postman hahahaha
