What the—? Well, we suppose nothing about Final Fantasy XV should surprise us anymore, but even after earlier reports suggested as much, this first trailer for Episode Prompto has caught us by surprise. It looks like the kind of corridor third-person shooter that you’d find on the PlayStation 2 – but in the days before Resident Evil 4 released and revolutionised the genre.
Look, we haven’t played this so we reserve judgement, and the footage clearly depicts a tutorial area so maybe it’ll improve, but… It just looks so bad, and doesn’t do anything to accentuate the very obvious strengths that Final Fantasy XV has. Eh, it’s due out on 27th June and of course we’ll give it a fair shake. But our expectations aren’t very high, let’s say that.

I hope this plays better than it looks like it plays.
@get2sammyb
Article says July 27th, video says June 27th?
It looks repetitive and those enemies take more bullets than Uncharted's cannon fodder. Also weird when he is being shot in the back and won't even react.
@sinalefa Sorry, my mistake. Will fix. Thanks!
@get2sammyb @ShogunRok I haven't watched the vid, but the pic gave me flashbacks to the submarine hanger area in Uncharted. Has anybody ever had anything good to say about that area of that game?
They should have made Carbuncle DLC instead, it could have been like Daxter.
I love how he yells "yoink!" as he makes a stealth kill in the tutorial. Hahaha
What are the video options available at the moment? Are Square finished with the PS4 Pro patches?
It looked pretty fun in their actual demonstration - very dirge of cerberus/parasite eve. I always thought Prompto's episode would be a shooter though - I mean, he uses guns in the main game...
So how many story DLCs are on the pipeline again? When will they ever end so I can play the whole package. I don't see myself going back to them unless I play everything in one go.
@fchinaski There should be 3 story DLCs and then the multiplayer after the Ignis one.
I loved the main game yet I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I believe there is a great RPG and story hidden away in there somewhere. This though looks awful and the dlc so far has been pretty poor and unfocused, even the VR has transformed from the Behemoth fight to a fishing game. 200 odd people still working on this and this is the best they can come up with, oh and who needs telling to shoot an explosive barrel?
Hopefully the VII remake is made by a different team
FFXV is such a mess. Thank goodness Dragon Quest hasn't been tainted yet!
FFXV is feeling less like a FF game every day.
Wow... it's actually kinda cool... I dunno why you think it's bad...
@MAntonioLimon Thanks
I think it is time for FF to go back to the source.
Make a story that is memorable. Turn by turn or real time combat like FFXV dont matter to me much.
I just want good story like FF7 / FF8 / FF10 and FF12.
Lol, that suck's but then again so does FFXV. Terrible game, i'm just gonna pretend FFXV never happened and the next FF will be nothing like it....at all!
@xMEADx lol your opinion of FF15 has been funny to read over the past 9 months or so. Gone from great to trash. Now I can see why, although I don't actually agree, as I really enjoyed it at the time, but looking back it's hard to remember exactly why. I guess I just have to trust my memories and believe I had a good time haha.
I am looking forward to trying all this DLC once it's out. As for this one, it's kinda odd but as @feena mentioned this approach makes total sense given he uses a gun.
@kyleforrester87 Hehe, I get what you mean but I could tell playing it and I did say at some point it doesn't feel like a FF and won't last long but it was fun to play. It was fun to play and the mechanic's were good, it was just so pointless to have said mechanic's because it was so easy with win button's, OP potion's etc and it spread through the whole game, everything bar a few optional dungeon's were way way to easy and pointless. A poor game, a flash in the pan, a quick fix nothing like any FF game i'd played before it fortunately.
@xMEADx Yeah it's a very odd game. One I'm glad I played, and I still wouldn't call it bad, but I'll never play it through again and they better take FF16 in a different direction
Not big on this series but just finished this game and it was a very mixed experience. A great world filled with some truly awful content and design choices. Thoroughly enjoyed the story and characters though, that campfire scene at the end was rather devastating.
Might pick these dlcs up when they're all released.
L1 and R1 to aim and shoot!? Squenix plz!!!
