Elite Dangerous, the popular and critically acclaimed space sim, will finally land on PlayStation 4 this summer. The open-ended title sees you take to the stars and make a name for yourself, whether you choose to be an intergalactic trader or a deadly combat pilot. It just might be enough to wash away the pain of bitter sci-fi disappointments No Man's Sky and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Elite Dangerous will launch on the 27th June - but will you be hopping aboard? Avoid the asteroid field in the comments section below.

Obligatory "What about PSVR?" comment. I assume it's not been addressed (recently), but I also don't know if it's been officially asked by anyone with the means to get an answer.
Yee haa, finally get to see this game on a properly powered system, rather than at 6fps on my moon old pc. Hopefully the DLC comes packed in.
I hope the game isn't too sim focused to put me off because it's something I would love to get into.
@JudasGoat I asked the devs at PAX East this year about it. They didn't outright say no, but it's not confirmed to be something they're doing yet either. So pretty much maybe haha. But we talked about VR support on other platforms. Their biggest concern seemed to be whether they could transfer the game to the lower powered headset without losing anything in the process. If they figure that out my guess is we get VR support!
@gbanas92 Great, thanks for the reply. I'd LOVE to have this, as it seems to have everything that EVE is missing. I don't think I could bring myself to play it, knowing that just over the fence is a VR version.
@gbanas92 I'd love it in VR (remember when it was rumoured for No Man's Sky!) but it is a big universe and graphically quite good so I would guess no though apparently it looks good on the Occulus (according to my boss)
@JudasGoat Well it's certainly not a sure thing, so I don't know if I'd hold off for a mode that might never come! But it's certainly not impossible!
@Rudy_Manchego Exactly! I definitely want it, but between the 3 major headsets, PSVR is definitely the least powerful, and Elite: Dangerous is a pretty demanding game! Oh man I forgot about No Man's Sky's alleged VR mode haha. Frankly, I forgot about No Man's Sky too!
@gbanas92 Right. I meant moreso that the PC version has VR support. I've never played it, but I have been pretty impressed with what Capcom did with Resident Evil, and even the Star Wars VR mission on Battlefront - granted I know that ED is a MUCH larger scope.
@JudasGoat Oh oh, then yes! Haha. The VR mode of Elite is realllllly cool too so I hope they can make it happen on PS4. Yeah there are a few impressive large scale VR titles on the PS4 now (RE7 being the biggest example) so it's certianly not impossible. Sure, there's more going on with the scale of Elite, but one can dream!
Looks fantastic. I haven't been following it on steam, but are you able to exit your vehicle on a planet? If they showed in the trailer, I probably missed it.
I've been waiting for a decent space sim this gen, could this finally be a good one? Fingers crossed.
Woohoo
@themcnoisy according the devs the PS4 game will include the "first season if Horizons DLC" as standard. So basically it will come with all the currently available DLC included. Pretty good deal if you ask me. I have the base game on Xbox One and was thinking about getting the DLC the other day but thought I'd leave it and wait for the PS4 release date. Looks like that was the right choice haha
There goes my summer.
I need to prepare myself and sort out my backlog :/
