How's this for an awkward game name? Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles. The awkward title's just been rated by the ESRB, suggesting a release is imminent. But hang on, Call of Duty: WWII was just announced, so what in the name of George A. Romero is this?
Well, it was originally rumoured to be a DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III featuring eight remastered Treyarch co-op maps. Of course, it wouldn't need an ESRB listing if it was purely an expansion, so it looks like the popular zombies mode may be getting its own standalone release?
We'll need to wait for more information from Activision, but our guess is that Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles will be a standalone PlayStation 4 release, available physically and digitally, which will include access to every single zombies map in the Black Ops III thus far – including the aforementioned upcoming remasters.
It makes sense, we suppose. The content's already done, so all the publisher needs to do is pop it in a box with some fancy artwork and it'll pick up some decent sales at the right price. We'll keep you updated as and when we learn more.

How much do you wanna bet that they are releasing this because of Switch, and Switch won't get WWII?
@NinjaWaddleDee The ESRB rating lists PS4, Xbox One, and PC — so I'm betting it has nothing to do with Switch.
There are 9 zombie maps total from CoD5 and Blops 1 combined. Which one are they cutting, I wonder? I'd say "Moon" personally but it seems weird that they're cutting one map. I really hope this doesn't mean we're getting like...A couple from CoD5, a couple from Blops 1, and a couple from Blops 2 or something — Blops 1 had great zombie maps, and every zombie map since has been trash.
Hmm I might look into this, but to be honest I can never find people to play Zombies with on CoD.
@naut I think this is just Black Ops 3 Zombies.
@Tasuki Blops 3 Zombies has six maps total, so the "eight remastered maps" statement makes no sense in relation to that.
@Kyroki Hopefully CoD5 and Blops 1 selections. Blops 2 and up did not have good zombie maps.
@naut Is that including the new maps they have yet to release for BO3 Zombies?
I'd be happy if they just did this from the beginning. I'd happily pay $40 for the complete zombies campaign and skip the main game if they offered it.
Cannot wait for this especially a stand alone Zombies game in chronological order.
