Destiny 2 Just Got Officially Announced By the Way

Great! Now I know I just have to wait a few years to get the game with all DLC expansions for $60 instead of buying the base game for $60 and all subsequent expansions individually.

Sigh. I'm just salty that I could have payed so much less for the exact same value.

Destiny is amazing. Haters gonna hate, but it currently has the best online multiplayer co op right now I'm my opinion.

Sept 8 matches the annual release cadence, no? So it makes sense if there is no new dlc.

It also means to expect "annual franchise release" level of quality...

You know when you go see an average fireworks display and the last big bang isn't quite as dramatic or as impressive as you thought it would be? That's kind of what this announcement is like.

@walrusballs Seriously. I can't stand people that complain after putting hundreds of hours into a game by saying, "What do I do nooooow?" Just... Stop playing I guess? Bungie doesn't have to support your game for the rest of your life you know that? Time and development is money.

I had no problem paying for the first game piece by piece as each DLC was released. I got to play with my friends each time a new piece of content came out and with over 1800 hrs. into the game, I feel that I have most certainly gotten my moneys worth, regardless!

I'll definitely be pre-ordering Destiny 2. Don't care how little fun vocal minorities had.

We all knew this was coming lol I genuinely feel sorry for some of the bungie employees. They have been working on this for ages now and then someone leaks it just before they're about to announce it. Lol that must suck so bad, it's like having a surprise party and wasting the good "surprise!" On a late guest lmao. On a side note what is that in Cayde's hand?

Hope the world is less empty was one of the things that really bothered me.

I bought 2 copies of the game at launch (my sons on Xbox). Both season passes, taken king, rise of iron on both consoles god knows how many tenners I gave him to do raids for me and it was worth every penny because it was far and away our most played game. The only issue I have with destiny is the claws it got into me for such a long time. Before anyone says 'just play something else', don't. Because believe me I tried. I couldn't let it go for over 2 years. All in all, money well spent I say and looking forward to 2!

I am merely speculating here but looking at the poster, it looks like the last city is in ruins and smoking. I remember reading somewhere that the Traveler was on it's way leaving the planet when the darkness came for it and leaving humanity to its doom. It was Rasputin that shot a barrage of missiles (nuclear I think) at the Traveler to stop the Traveler from taking off, which in turn put him to sleep.

I wonder if the Traveler has awoken and remembered what humanity did to it and decided to lay waste.

It would be an awesome plot twist to have the Traveler turn malevolent and it's up to the guardians to put him back to sleep.

(either that or I need to lay off the coffee and go to sleep)

So you don't get to carry over your characters from the first Destiny but someone told me that apparently Destiny 2 has only the same three classes again? Can anyone confirm this?

Well I am interested in a sequel. A few buddies and I were big into the base game. We got it on sale and had a lot of fun. Couldn't justify the price of the dlc though so hopefully they don't make the same mistake. Needs more content off the bat for me to buu

Maybe you couldn't carry over your previous characters because Bungie has issue dealing with the inventory space again and doesn't want us to carry over all the gears from the first Destiny? lol

Yup can carry over your characters' appearance, but nothing else.

And no details have been released regarding the classes.

Not sure if anyone can confirm anything yet about destiny 2 with any real integrity. Except maybe that the size of the number 2 is something king Kong would be proud of any given morning.

@WanderingBullet @gingerfrog nope, we can confirm as bungie has confirmed that the only thing that will carry over is your appearance. They'll be no inventory as the Cabal are gonna do us all a favour and blow up the vault.

@testyardallen Actually it has been confirmed by a story writer at bungie that the measures described in the Rasputin grimmoire card were never run by the warmind - he did plan it but never executed it - the Traveler stayed for some reason whether it chose to do so or just couldn't escape the deep anymore.

Destiny lore is just so immense these days, if you are interested in it and never heard of these dudes, the people over at Destiny Ghost Stories have podcasts focusing on all things lore!

Also, this is too soon! I still need to catch up on so much of my bloody backlog, this will set me back a year at least!

Call me old fashioned but i would like to see a little blood and gore this time.i understand it was due to the type of weapons,but was it really? The lack of it put me off the first one..i am sure it will be a very well made game anyhow,just not really on my hot-list right now..

@get2sammyb If we're looking at destiny one I would say there's plenty to complain about.

I was a hardcore (like several hours a day) player 2-3 months since launch then became upset with the state of affairs and sold my copy.

My eyes/ears are open to destiny 2 but taking everything shown with a grain of salt b/c what they did to destiny 1.

Well,back in the 90's blood and gore was kind of a selling point for 'Doom Clones' as they were known,then there was Quake,Turok Soldier Of Fortune ect..Whats not to like? Its horses for courses i guess.

@NinjaWaddleDee lol thats exactly what happened to me too, some of my friends who quit even said "there is not enough content" ...i didn't even bother to argue cuz you'd have to be stupid to not see how much there really is. Then yesterday destiny goes and says thank you for playing and supporting our game, here is even more stuff for free plus year one stuff for all you backers from way back when. Like, really? Thank YOU bungie. That's the kind of stuff that makes me teary eyed and want to play it even more... Too nice.
Anyway can't wait for des2ny, lets play sometime?
